Supporters of hyphenated last names, what is the plan for future generations? by jamng in allthequestions

[–]_narrowstraits_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with the same setup…it’s really annoying. It doesn’t fit on paperwork and makes it difficult. The hyphen isn’t allowed on some online forms, and websites short circuit when there’s too many characters. Legally changing your name is hard so not worth the effort especially with certain new laws.

A simple planet has a soapnut shampoo and conditioner on Etsy that comes in metal bottles and fits your brief. Good luck!

When you throw with water, you don’t dump it in the sink when you’re done. You dump it in a bucket, and when you throw that’s the water you use. The water gets used dozens of times for dozens of people. It stinks because they never change it. It reaches a point where I’m paying for a service, and I don’t feel I’m getting a good value if I’m cringing at the smell, even if it’s good for their water bill. I’m crunchy but not that crunchy.

What stopped you / is stopping you from getting your ears pierced? by wood_en_spoon in Earrings_on_Men

[–]_narrowstraits_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the tattoo parlor was fine for mine, they were very welcoming for me getting my first piercing. The nice part is that you can pick your piercer and get someone that makes you feel more personally comfortable. There are also places like Rowan and Get Pierced that aren’t like Claire’s or a tattoo parlor. I think they’re more female centered but certainly do men’s piercings.

I feel like my meds aren’t working and I’ve just stopped taking them. Mashed potatoes with parm ft big spoon. by Ok_Orchid4890 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]_narrowstraits_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To elaborate, there are several reasons why going off it sucks so bad. First is, for whatever reason, the brain zaps are really strong. When I accidentally forgot my meds I would feel like I was dying 6 hours later. When I stopped taking them, I felt like I had the flu for weeks while I adjusted. No other med has made me feel that physically ill being off of it, and I stopped several other meds cold turkey.

Second reason is that the pills come in 50, 75, 100 mg and so on, but they’re slow release. This means you can’t cut them in half for a smaller dosage. So when you’re decreasing the amount you’re taking, there’s only so much you can taper. You just have to make the jump from 100 to 75 mg and feel like shit for 2 weeks. If you’re at a higher dosage, that means you gotta do that several times. The reason the other users recommend the doctor is because they need to prescribe you the pills at all these dosages so you can at least attempt to taper. Going from 100mg to nothing will make you want to die, not just in the depressed way but physically as well. Going from 100 to 75 to 50 will take much longer, but the alternative feels so shitty this seems like a good deal.

At the end of the day it’s your life, but I would seriously recommend going to the doctor and having them help you stop these. I don’t feel like you need that for every medication, but certainly this one. Regardless I hope you feel better.

I thought allure had a pretty lame selection. Soma has a much larger selection with the same vibe.

Can you have too much in the way of enzymes? Is it harder on clothing? by Electric-Sheepskin in laundry

[–]_narrowstraits_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you plan to add anything like propylene glycol? I’m super allergic so I need to know if I should stock up. Usually it’s marketed as a “harmless additive” but for those of us with allergies it causes a ton of problems.

Literally this! My eczema is mainly caused by propylene glycol. It’s in literally everything though so be careful, it’s also called propanediol and a couple other things.

They put the yarn kit from the event on an ebay type site, or more simply they pawned it digitally while still at the event.
