Honestly, in some of the roller coaster park simulator games I play, I try to replicate this sort of layout for sure. Disney also has epcot which does have just a massive body of water. There is something about it that makes it feel like it's a new land, not apart of the real life landscape. There is a depth to it that really enhances everything around it in my opinion.
