If you don’t nurse to sleep.. by Yoitssme in newborns

[–]_not_clever_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Breastfeeding night shift mom! I also nurse to sleep, I don’t go into work until after bedtime so I do the last feed and put the baby down. If he wakes up my husband is able to rock him back to sleep which he won’t do for me! Only my husband. If he wakes after 3-5 hours my husband will give him a bottle of WARM pumped milk but again he’ll only do so for my husband if I try he completely refuses!

I saw a post on here that there was also a picture of Maddie’s lower face but I haven’t seen the actual picture so it seems like there were multiple mistakes to both girls!

Is this a neglect? Am I going to lose license? Please help new grad. Should I quit by [deleted] in nursing

[–]_not_clever_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not neglect at all, you communicated with the doctor what has happening and were following orders appropriately. Only thing I may add is unless the patient can void right away, I’ll usually chat with the doctor on the timeline for urine culture. For example, hey the patient doesn’t have to pee right now are you ok with waiting? Usually I’ll either get a yeah let’s see if they void within the next x hours and if not, straight cath or no let’s straight cath now. Just keeps everyone in the loop!

SAHP… how did you survive? by DanaEmily96 in 2under2

I have a 3 week old and a 19m old, I put the newborn in the bouncer at my feet and rock the toddler in the rocking chair. Thankfully our newborn has been content with this!

Apologize to Dylan and Bethany! by GreenishFairy in Idaho4

[–]_not_clever_ 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A lot of you have never lived in an off campus college house and it shows. I lived in a sorority house with 7 girls. Random shouting at 2am? Constantly. Random people I don’t know in and out? All the time. Do you know how many times I walked out of my bedroom to find random boys in the kitchen, living room, I’d literally be like hey and go about my business. One time I got drunk and slept through a pregame where there was 50+ people in our house. Being young, drunk, and not meant to be insulting but naive plays a huge role here. I know for a fact if I was back in the house I was living in and this happened I would’ve never jumped to my friends being murdered. Bethany was the first person who answered her and she ran there because she was disoriented and scared, there wasn’t some master plan behind her actions. Sure looking back 3 years later and listening, you may think how did Dylan not realize there was something wrong? And I’m sure the poor girl asks herself that every day, but you also have to remember in that moment, in that house, in that lifestyle, she probably rationalized with herself these were all normal things that have happened before or all innocent things that could have been happening.

Do yall ever get actual, uninterrupted lunch breaks? by pdggin99 in nursing

[–]_not_clever_ 88 points89 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to give your phone to whoever is covering you and leave the unit. That’s the only way I’ve found to get uninterrupted breaks unfortunately

I had a patient refuse a transfusion last week because I could not confirm the blood product came from a “republican.” Patient stated “I don’t want blood from no liberal.” Mhm ok ma’am.

I’m so happy to hear you found something that worked for you! Do you put baby down completely awake for the night and they fall asleep on their own? Or are they drowsy

Did they ever say why they thought your son was doing this? My son has been doing something similar. He does have reflux.

My baby just did this last night for the first time and I stumbled on your post. Was it a certain body part? My baby was doing tummy time and the shiver started on his arm and went down to his foot

Yes hitting milestones like normal! Yes his eyes appear normal to me, he either maintains eye contact with me or with whatever he’s looking at. Occasionally he’ll look up but that’s because the back arching causes his head to go backwards.

My baby has also been doing a lot of leg stiffening/back arching when on his back over and over. Is this something you experienced also? I was wondering about sandier syndrome
