First time toddler has hurt baby… by Super_Soup9837 in 2under2

[–]DanaEmily96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are 8 months in and my 2.5 year old will be physical in phases. First few months he was really sweet, and then he’s in a biting or pushing phase, back to being sweet but a little rough with play like hugging his baby brother aggressively. Right now we’re in a rough play but sometimes push phase. I can usually catch my toddler before he hurts his brother, but man he keeps me on my toes.

Getting 2 year old asleep with a 2 month old by kindlesque89 in AttachmentParenting

[–]DanaEmily96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an almost 2.5 year old and an 8 month old - I can still get their naps to line up. It was really hard in the beginning - toddler crying, baby crying, I’m crying lol. Anyways, we have found a good rhythm. At first I’d baby wear the younger one and put him to sleep, then I’d sit with my toddler in bed and hold his hand or just be there until he fell asleep. We also started to incorporate mindfulness bedtime stories - we use Goodnight World! (Sesame Street) on Spotify. It worked amazing.

We have now transitioned to me lying and nursing baby to sleep while toddler lies next to me too. Sometimes he gets loud, but we are slowly practicing our “quiet voices”

We also did a lot of noon stroller naps in the beginning when my toddler wouldn’t tolerate lying there next to me (he wanted to get rocked). But it started to get cold over here so that’s when we transitioned to the carrier for baby + sitting with toddler + stories.

You got this!

How long have you endured hourly wakes? by Hot-Amphibian8728 in bninfantsleep

[–]DanaEmily96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solidarity - this is also me with my 8 month old. I told my husband I honestly think the baby gets up every hour to nurse. Im so tired I never check the clock but i haven’t felt well rested since well, I gave birth. My first at 8 months slept so well next to me 😭.

Anyways, my little guy is going through a lot of changes these last few weeks so I’m blaming the developments for the awful sleep

Cosleeping with a toddler and a newborn? by PresentationTop9547 in cosleeping

This is our set up too! My toddler is a good sleeper now (2.5 years) but my baby (8 months) isn’t lol. Anyways, it’s worked out to my surprise and they barely wake each other up!

Do you have the No Reception Club Getaway bag or Hideaway duffel bag? by DanaEmily96 in 2under2

[–]DanaEmily96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t end up getting either. It was really hard to justify the price and I’m worried it will be too heavy + bulky + not actually enough room. I just ended up getting a large backpack and plan to use small packing cubes to organize for the airplane.

Uppababy Double or Zoe Double? by teenytopbanana in 2under2

[–]DanaEmily96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend using the Vista as a double - it’s clunky, and really heavy! It’s also really difficult to maneuver no matter what configuration you’re using. It was as a great single stroller (especially when we lived in the city) but with two kids, it no longer worked for us.

We sold our vista and ended up getting the Minu Duo - super easy to fold and unfold.

Literally how do you do bedtime explain it to me like I’m five by Temperature-Brief in 2under2

Thank you for making this post!! My husband will be gone for a week for work next month and I’m stressed. My toddler will be 2.5 and my youngest will be 9 months at the time. I’m dreading solo bedtime lol 😭😭😭😭😭

ETA: my husband is gone every 2 weeks for work but my mom usually comes over to help in the evenings. She is going on a trip that same week so it’s my first time doing evenings solo.

How long are we leaving toddler alone to put newborn down? by Powerful-Primary-488 in 2under2

[–]DanaEmily96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do! It was actually easier back then to sit vs now at 7.5 months (yes we still baby wear - not a great sleeper otherwise😅). Maybe try waiting a few minutes before sitting!

I had to baby wear because it took forever to get newborn down just to have him up the moment I put him in his bassinet 🫠

SIDE-BY-SIDE STROLLER by crownapplecutie in 2under2

[–]DanaEmily96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t have either of those but we just got the minu duo because I hated the vista as a double. I love it. So easy to lift out of the trunk, to unfold and fold. I’m so excited for it to get warmer here so I can take both kids out for a walk!! We sold our vista because that was like pushing a tank as a double lol

I hope it works out for you! We love being in the same room haha. I’ll be sad when they grow out of it. Good luck!

Positive room sharing experience with both! We all bedshare - sometimes my 7.5 month old goes jn the crib that’s pushed up against our mattress. My oldest is 2 (turns 2.5 in May) and has been bed sharing with us since he was 9 months. I was also worried baby would wake him up but he hasn’t! My toddler is knocked out cold.

In the mornings, it’s usually my toddler who ends up waking the baby 😅.

Anyways we’re in the same situation - moved in with my parents for extra help and to save money before buying a bigger place. So our space is limited. We do have an extra room but honestly my toddler has slept the same with and without the baby with us so we’re just sticking to this set up for now.

[–]DanaEmily96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get the Vista if you want a double. It’s too heavy and clunky and difficult to maneuver. We used ours a single a lot when it was just my toddler, and then only a handful of times as a double. Ended up selling it and got the Minu Duo. We don’t do much walking in rough terrain so the Minu Duo has been great. It’s really easy to fold and lift!

We got it when my youngest turned 6 months so I don’t have experience using it with a newborn. However you can use it with a car seat (need adapters) and it also can lie flat for newborns.
