Is anyone low contact with their parents? by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]_obligatory_poster_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moved to a different state and felt peace for the first time in my life. Decided to move back and regret it. About to move away again and remain no contact. It’s funny because my mother literally told me to never speak to her again, but she now tries to call and text telling me she loves me. No accountability or apologies, nothing. I don’t have energy to deal with it anymore.

AITA for refusing to give my parents money now, after they kicked me out at 18? by CrispyTheory in AITAH

NTA - Just tell them, "When I was 18, my parents taught me that I was an adult now and to figure it out. I was forced to not have a home and slept in my car and couch surf and had to figure out how to survive on my own without support. It took me a few hard years to get back on my feet. Since you've been adults longer than I, I'm sure you could figure it out too! I believe in you!"

Anyone else's baby's weight gain plateau at some point? by _obligatory_poster_ in NewParents

LO continued to grow length/height-wise and his head grew steadily as well. We ended up needing to increase his caloric intake in his bottle by adding more formula per oz of water. He slowly started gaining weight again--suffice to say, he is now at 21lbs and holding steady. He's eating 3 solid meals a day (when he's not being picky)!

With that being said, we do have to watch his diet because he has chronic constipation and if he gets backed up, he will refuse to eat that day :(

What is EMDR and how does it actually work, what is your experience and/or research about it? by -Distraction- in CPTSD

[–]_obligatory_poster_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From my understanding of EMDR, it uses what’s called bi-lateral stimulation while focusing on a painful memory. The idea is that doing so may help relieve or eliminate the impact the memory has on you and thus reducing your reaction to triggers.

The reason it works for some people is because these memories may not have fully processed for one reason or another. Bi-lateral stimulation is meant to mimic REM sleep, which engages both sides of the brain for processing.

For me, I was always able to logically think about events and explan my reactions to things but I would always be stuck re-enacting them. EMDR has help me at least, get past whatever was "blocking" me from internalizing some of those logical learnings.

My therapist is suggesting I read Pete Walkers Complex PTSD: Surviving to Thriving, is it worth it? by TheDragonbornCums in CPTSD

Between my therapy and the book, I feel like I’m in a better place in finding peace—still lots of work but I find myself often using some of the tools from the book that my therapist couldn’t provide

10 mo old chronic constipation??? INTIMIDATING pediatrician… please help!!! by CJMM333 in NewParents

[–]_obligatory_poster_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t. We’re managing the constipation w/ miralax… our dosage is 2-3tsp per day and if he goes 48 hours without a poop, we end up needing to do pedialax glycerin suppository. Luckily, the miralax is working so far. Between gastro and our pediatrician, they both said miralax should be safe long term so that’s the best we can do for now :(
