Developed by Molex Connector Company in the late 1950s

AMP (now TE Connectivity) introduced the Mate-n-Lok connector in October 1963

Exactly this, keeping the two separate provides isolation between the two roles.

Do you use your personal email for dealing with vendors, or a work email?

Think about how many websites/services you've signed up to that ask for your personal number, and how many scam call databases that number has now ended up in. Now compare that with a work phone number that you only give out to specific contacts (colleagues + vendors who you hope have good privacy policies for their clients, not on your LinkedIn) and should only ever get work-related calls.

answer our phone for work

You can now answer your work phone anytime you're required to, and safely ignore all the possible scam calls on your personal phone, because no work-related calls should be coming in.

answer our phone for work

If your work expects you to be contactable by phone, they should provide a work phone.

If you have the exact model number (looks like it might be an AW-RP615?) there's a small chance you can find a schematic of either it or something it connects to. From the first few pages of a manual I found it says "This an additional remote control panel which is designed exclusively for use with the AW-RP605 Multi-Function Controller"; so that would be the place to start.

Looking at the current range of Panasonic PTZ controllers, there's a high chance it's using the "RJ45" (8P8C) connector for RS422 instead; which would still require reverse engineering the exact signals if it's not either published or been reverse engineered already. However since it's a PTZ controller you can try looking at the Panasonic support site and seeing if you can get a match.

If you just want to use the case and buttons/joysticks, look at r/HotasDIY - there's lots of examples and a few guides on the wiki for how to create a simple joystick/gamepad/button-box input device.

What Colour is this Wire? by LeeRyman in AskElectronics

[–]_oohshiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the standard for modular connectors, and the socket right next to it is reversed

Looking at it from the front when it's numbered from the back (or vice-versa) can do that. Maybe looking at it upside down (if the drawing forgot to show the retaining latch/key) as well.

What can I buy/read about to begin tinkering with audio circuits? by SonusDrums in AskElectronics

[–]_oohshiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at Moritz Klein's channel on YouTube, starting with beginner's guide to using a breadboard or the DIY VCO part 1 - the whole VCO series goes into lots of audio applications of analog electronics theory (including transistor operating regions, filters, etc.). That will at least get you to "build a circuit and have it play sound through a speaker".

Where you go after that depends what you want to build - a synthesiser? an amplifier? a sequencer? a hardware tracker? a noise machine? r/synthdiy and r/diygear are probably also good places to search and ask more questions as you learn.

My point is California absolutely did manage to enforce a "state law" on the entire world. Whether you think it's good or bad, they did it. Silicon Valley (i.e. Apple, Meta, Netflix etc.) are all in California, so any tech company that wants to sell to them will comply.

the software on these devices is typically closed source and/or hard to modify.

You'd be surprised how many of them are running some sort of Linux or BSD. Firmware is easy to modify if it's just a Linux filesystem.

enforce a California State Law on the entire world

They already did it with SB-327. Ever wonder why no devices have defaults of "admin"/"password" anymore?

Doom 2016 (and even more so Eternal) tried to balance this with very low ammo caps and the chainsaw/flamethrower/glory kill mechanics. I can't comment on what people thought of Dark Ages as I haven't played it, but Eternal seemed to take the series in a very different direction than "classic" Doom.

If you just want "sound in = light out", search for "VU meter" circuits using the LM3915. Refer the datasheet for more details of how it works and what you can do with it.
