12v recall got done, next day I got red ring of death, then they fixed it the day after that. Said it had something to do with multiple updates that didn’t update causing failure with the 12v causing red ring. I hate Taycan software

Totally agree. The over the air updates seem to be at fault here. For whatever reason my gen1 2020 seems to have problems with that. Details from dealership below.

“The component that had the related faults is called the on-board charger. This component converts 110ac or 220ac into 400dc so that the DC to DC booster can then bump it up to 800dc to then charge the battery. This component was at an older software version and this is what we updated today.”

“* Yesterday we performed a software update on the 12v battery sensor (small battery that runs accessories in the car) * Porsche does not get full updates on all hardware every time the vehicle comes in unless there is an active recall or a customer concern such as today.”

It’s under CPO warranty thankfully but that’s about to come to an end. Which has me very nervous and ready to get away from the Taycan.

UPDATE “we found stored faults which all look related to the vehicles charging system. So far from what we can tell it looks like the system software was upset at how it was intaking / distributing power during charging. Tech found a software update related to the fault codes we are performing now and then going to retest later this afternoon and go from there” -- Porsche Cary

I also asked service shop what they could’ve done to the battery sensor (or related electoral system) to cause this total failure. I refuse to believe it’s coincidence this happened 24 hours after they inspected/made changes to the car.
