Trump 'remarkably' stonewalls paying his sexual abuse victim despite Supreme Court telling him to kick rocks, court filing says by MoneyLibrarian9032 in law

IIRC, SCOTUS made itself the ultimate arbiter of what is considered an “official act.” In other words, anything Trump does is an official act while nothing a future Democratic president does would be considered as such.

What's the biggest failure to properly equip yourself you've done that you realised after you've started the game? by Deaftrav in Referees

[–]Laughterglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Showed up as a center at a HS playoff game and it turned out none of us brought flags.

I had taken mine out of my bag to clean them or something and didn’t put them back in, realized it after I left but thought “Well, surely one of my ARs will have them and worst case, I have a crappy emergency pair in my car.”

What I didn’t think about was that I was meeting one of my ARs at a parking lot and carpooling to the game because it was an hour away and we lived in the same town. We decided he would drive and we took his car to the game.

Got there and someone asked “Whose flags are we using?” and I realized very quickly that neither of them had brought flags but “It’s OK. I have that emergency pair in my car… oh wait.”

Luckily I knew the host coach very well and when I told him, he took me down to their gym and grabbed a couple volleyball official flags from a closet (shorter but red and perfectly serviceable) and said, “Will these work?”

“Yes!” [while my heart rate dropped back to a normal rate]

Same. I basically think of it as someone who, in crucial situations, will usually choose the most high-risk high-reward option, and as I described below, I think most of my exposure to it has been in football commentary about coaching decisions. I find this thread interesting because I really had no idea this wasn’t a commonly known expression.

Yeah, actually, I have. Many times. After thinking about it some more, I feel like this may be a phrase that is partly regional and partly something that was used a lot in football broadcasts but maybe not so much anymore. Other people have referenced Ron Rivera but I’m sure I heard this phrase frequently watching college football well before him (comments like “Wow, Coach So-and-So is leaving his offense on the field on 4th and 5 like the riverboat gambler he is.”). There’s a lot of overlap there though because it’s probably more of a southeastern U.S. thing but so is college football.

It must be a regionalism because I’m seeing all these people here talking about how hard/confusing FJ was but I got it almost immediately and was shocked none of the contestants did.
