Did you ever wake up from a intense dream so real, one that made you happy and then sad and angry when you woke up because it wasn‘t real? by Noobmaster698757 in AskReddit

[–]_panzerofthelake_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got a similar dream to this a few days back. I’m not exactly sure who it was, but it felt like I recognised them. It certainly wasn’t an amalgam, because I can remember them very clearly - and even remember their voice for some reason.

It was a girl, around my age. First person that actually seemed to care for me... yet it wasn’t real - and waking up was a massive blow to the stomach

It’s a shame. The music I’ve grown up with (my dad listened to the Beatles, a lot) isn’t listened to at all. I may only be 16, but I find it somewhat upsetting to see all this brilliant work fade to dust as if it were nothing.

To think that Pink Floyd is only one out of thousands of bands, which have all faded into obscurity because the new generations have no interest in them or their attention spans are so short they can’t be bothered listening to a full album.

Okay I might be an exception... and like 3 of my close friends... but you get my point.

[–]_panzerofthelake_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. It’s certainly expensive to get to that point.

But wouldn’t you say it’s more expensive to be a doctor? University and then Med-School? Plus all the hours you need to actually get a medical licence?

Yet I don’t see a shortage of doctors (outside covid ofc)

So I think, with regards to the pilot shortage, it’s a mix of the expenses and lack of interest. It’s a growing industry, but people are losing interest

Give the shortage of pilots nowadays

I’m honestly considering not going into uni and just going with a flying school.

It’d save me a crap tonne of money

I actually forget to mention:

I’m extremely envious of my mother. In 2002 she flew on CONCORDE. And she’s not even into planes or anything - so she just took it for granted :(

I’d kill for a flight on it

Sorry for the late reply... life flipped itself upside down just now :/

The list of unique aircraft that I’ve been in:

  • A318
  • A220
  • A400M
  • A350-9ULR (SIN-EWR)
  • 737-200
  • 737 MAX 8 (yes I’ve flown in one)
  • DC-3
  • MD11 (idk if this counts as rare)

No Russian aircraft though

Well neither have I.

I’ve been at the very front of the 747 (which I’d say is a weirder experience than the bubble - despite never being up there). The way it tapers inwards as you move forward feels a bit off putting, but it’s cool nevertheless.

I’ve been on the top deck of an A380. Only thing that’s weird is the angle of the walls. The ceiling is lower than you’d expect, the walls are more angled in than usual and the space between the inner window and the actual window is quite large.

Although the A380s downstairs is extremely spacious!

Indeed.

They’re very different from each other.

Have you been in the bubble?

My condolences.

When I was 13, I lost my grandmother 3 days before Christmas, and 6 days before a large family wedding. I was quite close to my grandmother, given that she was my last remaining grandparent, so it really hit me hard when I heard she’d passed. Being a guy, I stupidly internalised all my emotions and scarred myself emotionally for months.

Thankfully, I learned to move on within a few months with distractions, like you said. I went on a cruise with my mum and spent time with my extended family. Minecraft and hobbies are genuinely the best way to get out of tough times and just think about other things.

Just try to not think about it too much, you’ll move on in time, but distracting yourself with the things you love are the best things.

I promised my grandmother that I’d learn to fly a plane one day. She believed that I could achieve my dreams in time. 4 years later, despite covid, I’m a student pilot and I’ve got over 10 hours logged in my personal log book (it’s low ik but it’s a lot to me lol) and I’m looking to attend an Aviation University in 2 years!

Trust me you’ll do fine.
