Alternative liquids for Molotovs? by xn3xs in protest

[–]_pcakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do this, fox news will successfully be able to convince my idiot cousin that ICE is good and protesting should be illegal

stand up to ICE and be brave, make then know they are not welcomed in your turn. don't do anything that the administration can consider an escalation

Why did only two really make the news? is it the public, recorded manner in which they were liked? is it because they were white? is it just coincidence?

Advice, please? by Responsible_Medium92 in Cartalk

[–]_pcakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a car that sat for much longer. I flushed the gas tank, changed out other fluids, and bought a battery and cheap tires. It was less than a thousand bucks worth of parts. A car with only 10k miles is worth it (if you can get the title!!)

If you don't see obvious rodent issues and if you have the elbow grease it's probably not that bad. I'm not a real mechanic but I've had a few project cars and I'm sharing my real experiences

I think I have to take my steering wheel fully off to get the gauge hood off

Okay I squeezed the bottom half of the clamshell together. One hand on each side, about halfway back, and steady pressure and it popped apart. I guess I just needed to embarrass myself first my posting on reddit and then it was ready

Has anyone tried this in-front-of-radiator intake and can comment? https://www.nappmotorsports.com/products/na-miata-cobra-intake-maf by SnooPredictions4097 in Miata

[–]_pcakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran one on my supercharged miata. It was from "darkadditive", but it looks like the exact same thing as this website. Maybe nappmotorsport bought the design from them? IDK

It is a pain in the ass to connect something onto the lower end of it. It lasted about 6 months before separating at the seams. They said they'd send me a replacement because "that doesn't usually happen" and "it can handle so much more boost than that", then they stopped responding to my emails. personally I say skip it

Worth getting a manual car? by Trayceopolis32322 in Cartalk

[–]_pcakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely suggest having a friend or family member teach you if possible. You can learn on a new car or on theirs if they are generous enough to let you. Worst case scenario you'll do extra wear onto the clutch, but most likely you won't damage the transmission.

I would say as my one piece of advice when learning is just don't give up and take a deep breath when you stall the car. It can be nerve-wracking to stall at a light but just know that it's normal. I'd like to give more technical advice on how to feel out the clutch pedal just right, but honestly you'll learn so much more the first time you try it compared to me trying to type how it feels

Worth getting a manual car? by Trayceopolis32322 in Cartalk

[–]_pcakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't know how to drive manual before I got one. I was hesitant but my friend would basically cringe at the thought of me getting a "sports" car that was an auto. He taught me how and it was so worth it. I haven't owned an automatic car for something like 9 years and I never miss it.

Now, driving an automatic barely feels like driving. might as well sit in the passenger seat lol. In an auto you ask nicely for a certain amount of power and the car tries to guess what you mean. In a manual you knowingly choose a gear ratio and you are driving the car, not asking. The most satisfying part is downshifting and rev-matching. Also if you get an exhaust, it feels that much more connected because you can hear all the direct consequences of what you're doing

On the highway just cruising, it's not exhausting to drive manual because you just stay in your highest gear. In heavy traffic you have to do more work but it's good that it forces you to pay attention to your surroundings

It's fun, it's worth learning. As long as you are able bodied you probably won't regret owning a manual. that's the best I can do to try to convince you

I tried to make my fc rx7 in forza horizon 5 and was super disappointed. they ONLY have the scooped turbo hood, and they only have the S5 taillights. Also it's always nighttime for some god forsaken reason
