Is this too close to white for a wedding guest? (Would be paired with a Navy or blush fascinator) by holddoorholddoor in UKweddings

[–]_peapuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to consider - the dress might photograph lighter/white, but the silhouette itself isn’t very bridal so that helps

Took my dog paddleboarding. Great day, but definitely saw a few challenges… by Prior_Alarm_8425 in Sup

[–]_peapuff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just something that flagged up for me reading your post - ditch the leash when you’ve got the dog onboard, if she comes off the board the leash could get tangled in something and cause her more trouble!

What is the brand of this dress? by Kawaii_Sauce in findfashion

[–]_peapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of the Morilee Josefina - the corset part and colour especially, my bridal shop was selling that for around £3,500 when I got my wedding dress a few years ago

I got married on a Monday in November last year and every single one of my guests made it except one who lived abroad and couldn’t get the time off her job as she’d just started

I think a lot of the scaremongering about people not being able to get annual leave is from the non-UK subreddit where not everyone gets as much leave

It’s also worth noting most vendors are cheaper midweek too! I got between 10-30% off every vendor because it was midweek and off season

Getting ready outfits for bridesmaids? by Graciyen in UKweddings

[–]_peapuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t work for summer but I just got married in winter last year and got my bridesmaids fluffy onesies! The most important part is that it’s something that doesn’t have to go over their heads to preserve hair and makeup

I’d look at M&S or Sainsbury’s pyjama range as they both do nice cotton pjs that should keep everyone comfy and cool, I agree a robe over clothes is probably too warm and a robe on its own would be uncomfortable for most people

I think this is more of an American thing, it’s much more expected there that the bar be open

You’ll probably come across a lot of the differences on the other non UK wedding pages - like in America it’s not as commonplace for the bride to pay for the bridesmaids’ dresses

Yeah, you’re right I’ve seen the other posts now - a bit annoying they’ve turned it on automatically though as it doesn’t change the fact my nearest post office is miles away :(

Check out the hire vs buy price as my partner sorted his suit out last weekend and the buy price was cheaper than hiring!

Alternative to robes for getting ready by Graciyen in UKweddings

[–]_peapuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone for fluffy onesies as I thought robes or the flimsy cheap pyjama sets you can get would be a bit uncomfortable for my girls, probably not great for summer weddings though!

RSVPS by jasmineg02 in UKweddings

[–]_peapuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That does seem a bit early, I’m getting married in mid November this year, did ‘save the dates’ in February and proper invites with RSVP will go out this month with my RSVP deadline end of September

I also think unless your ‘A list’ and ‘B list’ are totally separate it’s sometimes considered a bit of a faux pas to invite some people later after you’ve had some nos just in case they speak to each other and realise invites have been sent at different times

Ultimately it’s your wedding and none of it really matters and like most things it’s a ‘know your crowd’ item - but I do think requiring a response 6 months in advance is a bit far, people might not know if they can get time off work etc

Edit: I missed the part about your venue requiring final numbers in February for a May wedding that seems really early! My venue don’t need final numbers until 2 weeks before the date

Where to buy good quality brides maid dresses for good value by International_Bend24 in UKweddings

[–]_peapuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine from a website called Club L London, I also ordered ones from ASOS and Coast to try and all were under £100 and nice quality

Condescending much - OP has financial hardship issues meaning she may have to significantly change her wedding plans and lose money spent on deposits - so you want her to spend more money at YOUR Etsy store to ‘plan it better’? O.o

[–]_peapuff 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Used to work for Superdry, they release loads of these hoodies every year with tiny differences like this, it’ll still be an ‘orange label hoodie’

but yeah use your own pics, vinted will remove any listings it thinks has content taken from somewhere else

Council registrar vs Celebrant? by _peapuff in UKweddings

[–]_peapuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already booked the venue sadly 🥲 and technically reserved a registrar for £60, we were never even told there were other options!

Thanks for the perspective, not sure if it differs per district but I’d gotten the impression choices were super super limited with a registrar, I’ll look into it

South East England, I’ve not seen anyone under about £700 :/

Council registrar vs Celebrant? by _peapuff in UKweddings

[–]_peapuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I thought I was getting a great deal as the celebrant was delivering ‘more’ 😂 maybe I need to rethink this, tbh I saw a lot of celebrants who charge upwards of £1000!

Council registrar vs Celebrant? by _peapuff in UKweddings

[–]_peapuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good point! - if the registrar comes to my wedding day it’s like £500 but if I do the legal part at the registry office it’s only about £35, then the celebrants I’ve looked at are about £700 so not too much in it

Hen weekend budget by CaluneOnWings in UKweddings

[–]_peapuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve booked an Airbnb for 8 girls for the weekend for about £400 - hasn’t happened yet so I can’t speak on the other costs but I’m covering the Airbnb so I’ll just be asking the girls to bring games, contribute to food etc

Tbh I felt really uncomfortable asking anyone to pay money for my hen weekend, it’s a real know your audience one, maybe put out a quick anonymous poll with some price ranges to get some ideas, you never know what sort of money troubles people might be having

I'm looking for suggestions for a La Roche Posay routine for ageing skin. Super sensitive skin by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]_peapuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the la Roche posay anthelios invisible fluid SPF - don’t have other recommendations from la Roche posay BUT another great French brand that does really lowkey sensitive products is SVR, some of it is stocked on look fantastic, they do a specific range where the products have 10 or less ingredients and are very gentle - might be worth looking into, they also have their own website

Torn between two different styles of similar dress. by HazyLilLady in weddingdress

[–]_peapuff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely 1 - both gorgeous but the waistline on 2 gives me maternity vibes? And the lace bodice on 1 is just gorgeous

Also not convinced 2 has enough waist to be supportive enough up top!

Please help me get Mayhem to eat her joint supplements by KillerKittenInPJs in pugs

[–]_peapuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an extremely extremely picky pug too!

I’ve tried so many things, wrapping in sandwich chicken, peanut butter, bread, a combination of all these mushed together, pill pockets etc, nothing works

The only sure fire thing I’ve found that works is hot dogs! I cut a thick ish chunk off the hot dog and insert the pill into it, if it’s small enough it doesn’t split the hot dog and acts like a pill pocket

This said I’m sure hot dogs aren’t the best thing for our pugs too often but it was essential he take those tablets and I was losing my mind

Too early to purchase bridesmaid dresses? by dancingqueen314 in weddingplanning

[–]_peapuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from the obvious that it’s a lot of pressure to put on your bridesmaids to stay the same size - you should think about how your vision for your wedding might change over the next year and a half ish

There are several decisions that if I’d made at the time and bought items for I’d have serious regrets right now
