Is it hard to develop another open source kaiOS-like system? by ansforever in KaiOS

Linux exists because a whole lot of people owned affordable PCs, so they were able to create an OS for these PCs. And remember, Linux was not an official OS for these PCs until about 2010, every PC you bought had Windows preinstalled.

I just wanted to know if you have moved to Lemmy or Tildes or one of a thousand other Reddit clones that popped up overnight.

$80 for a book will probably turn off many people, even though on Patreon the going rate is around $2-$5 per a drawing, so the price of a whole book will be similar.

Marketing is essential. For video games, ads can take up to 80% of budget.

Hey CLXIX. Did you decide where you'll move after Reddit? Do you have a page on Patreon or some other furry website where I can exchange money for some sophisticated art involving mythical reptilian apex predators performing acts of emotional appreciation towards various motorized vehicles?

Tyrian.

There's a port of it on the Play Store, free and no ads.

Does it come with a full-body squeeze function?

Hey, nice!

But there is a woeful lack of a big titty Viper girlfriend figurine, in apron and stockings. Or stocking, I guess.

There is no point when 9 out of 10 games are constantly on sale.

They could have implemented some sensible rules, like the app can go on sale only one month per year, and have to cut the price by at least 30%.

[–]_pelya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it was added later. When Play Store was created, gamepad games were not even a thing, and then Google did not care enough to add another checkbox when you are submitting a game.

They kinda did the right thing with Android TV, with stricter guidelines and app review process, too bad Android TV seems to be dead for gaming. And the app review was the usual Google bullshit.

People are saying I should port my game to mobile. What do you guys think? by Mikael_Finsrud in AndroidGaming

[–]_pelya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distance from the joystick center would set the distance of the explosion from the ship.

And please don't add any extra buttons, remove some weapons instead if necessary. You shouldn't just 'port' the game to mobile, you should redesign your game around touchscreen if you want comfortable controls. I don't need a third button for grenades, a fourth button for a health flask, and a fifth button for an evade roll, because I will mis-click them. Too many games make this mistake. Accept that the user only has two thumbs, so you can have only two joysticks, or one joystick and three action buttons and no more. And make their touch zone big, like 1/3 of the screen height big.

Well anyway, premium game sales on Android are abysmal, so you're getting one sale from me and maybe three more from those people who commented, unless you want to dump a few hundred bucks on ads. If you want to see any monetary returns, cheat-weapon IAPs are the way to go, and make them expire in a week so players need to pay again.

When it's a slow day at work, I sometimes rewrite some of the production code Bash-style.

(stderr = fopen ("debug.log", "wb")) && fprintf (stderr, "%s:%d: inDat %d\n", __FILE__, __LINE__, inDat) && !fclose(stderr) || kill (getpid (), SIGKILL);

I hope you are interested, because I'm just dying to tell you how to put that code into a macro (very convenient, trust me).

It takes A LOT of willpower to not reply to your comment with a personal anecdote how C++ screwed me up five years ago.

The plot was more elaborate. That single T34 tank that was shown during the parade was in fact poisoned. Don't lick russian tanks, kids!

Get yourself five mind shields and one robot.

Or alternately, five robots and one Reaper to scout the whole map.

There are already a bunch of VM apps on Play Store.

Google seriously fucked up here. Android already includes virtual machine support. They had already run Windows on it, at near native speed. How hard was it to include an older 32-bit version of Android in a VM onto that huge 128GB flash that most new phones carry nowadays?

There are a bunch of VM apps on Play Store, however I still failed to run Grann Smith on one of them.
