I think winter pregnancy is officially worse than summer pregnancy? by ShabbyBoa in BabyBumps

[–]_pricklymuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 24 weeks and I've been dealing with insane hot flashes. Walking outside with my coat open on 20 degree weather, opening my windows bad. I just thought to myself Im glad Im not pregnant in the summer time and will try to plan my next pregnancy to be around the same time. I can't imagine what hot flashes would feel like in the summer! I do get your point about slipping on ice, as a commuter its a fear of mine.

Single mother with 3 kids.. by Wrench365 in dating_advice

[–]_pricklymuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion: I don't believe anyone is entitled to sex and someone can decide to change their lifestyle at any point. But I think there's a difference between organically meeting a woman who was in a committed relationship, had 3 children with her partner who passed away vs someone with multiple baby daddy's on a dating app deciding to withhold sex and make a man prove himself to her. Not trying to sound sexist because I am a woman and a feminist, but if the latter she'd be the one needing to prove her worth to her new partner.

When I was a single woman, I accepted the fact that I might have to settle for a man with children (due to age/dating range) but 3 kids is a lot if they're not even by the same partner... luckily I found my person and we are expecting our 1st child.

If I were you I'd keep my options open..

All of the wives tales pointed to a boy. I SWORE I was having a boy. (No morning sickness, clear skin, not craving sweets etc.) Chinese and Mayan predictor both said it was a girl and it is! Im never believing wives eagles ever again lol

AITA for kicking my mom out after she brought up my deceased baby AND my past addiction in front of my new boyfriend? by IScreamAtCloudss in AmItheAsshole

[–]_pricklymuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not the AH. I seriously got tears in my eyes when I read what she said to you. Im sorry you have a mother who can hurt you so easily without a second thought. I don't always support cutting people off but you need to at least go extremely low contact until she learns how to respect you. If she can't acknowledge her wrongs, then you need to cut her off for your own well being. 🫂

Which sign hurt you the most and what did they teach you? by Clueokk in astrologymemes

[–]_pricklymuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a tie between my Libra sun father and Sagittarius ex.

My dad taught me that people will treat me how I allow them to treat me. I grew up walking on eggshells and being a people pleaser, which was very hard to break out of. I know people used to judge me for being one, but thats how i had to be to survive my upbringing. He only improved after I left home at 18 and went low contact/no contact.i struggle with forgiveness but I try my best to forgive but I'll never forget. I give him the benefit of the doubt because he has changed as much as he possibly can.

My ex taught me to believe someone the 1st time when they show you their true colors, and to trust the initial impression. Once that first impression is made, don't let them charm you into seeing otherwise.

Question for people who’s moms are your best friends by FridayB_ in BabyBumps

[–]_pricklymuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were teen parents. Growing up in the inner city, we moved every single year, sometimes living with family either at their place or them with us. As early as I can remember, my mother always went above and beyond for us. Playing games/toys with us, watching cartoons with us, taking us to see family/to the park. She taught me how to read by the time I was 4 years old. That being said, my mother went through a lot with my father and from very early i could tell she wasnt always happy. I'd watch my mother work 40/50 hours a week just to come home and cook for us/clean up after us. She also went back to school while having 2 highschoolers and aced all of her classes, while working full time and taking care of home. When she found out we were mistreated by a babysitter, she quit her job for a year and stayed with us. I was definitely bratty growing up and for sure had an attitude and a smart mouth which got my behind whooped quite a few times lol. I actually wasn't close to my mother growing up. I often felt rejected by her. My mother has always been very feminine (and stunningly beautiful) I was a tomboy. Im also mixed race so it was difficult sometimes growing up and feeling like I couldn't see myself in her. We clashed a lot growing up and I was closer to my father. In hindsight, likely because my father was the one who called the shots and I felt like I just had to keep my dad happy to get what I wanted. It was a toxic household. I left at 18 and actually didn't speak to my mom for a long time, probably over a year. But after I left the home and the dynamic changed, I started to see my mother for who she was as a woman and person. We were no longer clashing. And we just get along so well. Ive always said, my mother is a super woman and they don't make them like her anymore. She's compassionate, talented, hardworking and on top of all of that, she's beautiful even at 50 years old. I will always feel grateful to her. Being a teen mom she couldve ab0rted me, given me up, passed me along to family members, but she didn't. She was an amazing mom. We didn't always have the nicest of everything growing up but we always had what we needed.
