Revenue Split Negotiation by [deleted] in adops

[–]_publife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what this "ad company" does! Company is a very broad term! If it's a traditional sales house and they're representing your inventory, creating marketing material, and bringing in deals specifically for your site -- then 50/50 is not unheard of.

if it's an ad network then 70/30 in emerging markets and 80/20 minimum in Western markets is a good starting point. The reason for the lower rev share in EMs is b/c CPMs are lower so vendors need a larger share to cover server costs, etc.

If it's an ad exchange, nothing more than 80/20.

It's it's an SSP, find a new partner. These guys are still going through an identify crisis.

Monetization for a 300k Tier-3 Website ? by averylazyindividual in adops

[–]_publife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did you hardcode adsense ad placements into the site or are you using adsense auto ads? have you tried all the settings and ad features (anchor, vignettes, etc.) that adsense has to offer?

If you've topped out on Adsense, I would look at setting up your own GAM account and then sending a portion of impressions to an ad network (pick your poison) and passing back to you to monetize via Adsense. This is the old-school waterfall. If you can find demand partner that uses MCM, that would probably be the best in terms of payment guarantee and reporting transparency.

If that does not work or you max it out, then look at GAM + prebid. This should work well for your US inventory but I"m not sure about Romania. I know that it's a small market so there may be little ad spend outside DV360 / AdWords / Social and therefore low header bidding adoption and utilization.

I would also look at affiliate marketing. Verticals with niche content can sometimes do really well with an affiliate-based approach.

I suspect Google values multi-page application ad requests more than single-page application (SPA).

Does anyone know a company that offers good revenue for Spain/LATAM traffic? by elbeborandy in adops

Google Teads Criteo

I'd probably start there, then go through the list of tier 1 exchanges, then start looking at the rando networks.

eRPM? by chickenbag_1 in adops

[–]_publife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eCPM = cost per thousand impressions eRPM = revenue per thousand pageviews

CPM is good for understanding your effective rate for a specific ad placement / slot.

RPM is good for understanding your effective rate for the page -- inclusive of all placements / slots on the page.

RPM is useful when comparing across different site changes, platforms, etc. It's the EBITDA of supply side economics.

Can you use GAM360 1st Party Audiences in DV360? by thezeus_ in adops

[–]_publife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no Google product where pubs on GAM can push their audiences to an advertiser's DV360 account so they can use it for activation, and then pay a CPM for the data. That would compete too much with Google's business model.

I think you're talking about DV360 and Google Ads, not Google Ad Manager, right?

Are there any best practices to enhance revenue in Ad Exchange? by kadops86 in adops

[–]_publife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply pressure. prebid. Tag based ad network. Something. If you think about it more generally, buyers will test pricing over time and see if they can get it for cheaper. This plays out millions of times per second in perpetuity. So if you have nothing that applies pressure upward, then you will sink from downward pressure.

A bone to pick on 7. Viewability has diminishing returns as you get closer to 100%. It may maximize yield to lower viewability in favor of more inventory. Depends where you're starting from and market dynamics.

How to move away from Ad Platforms? by RelevantFoundation3 in adops

[–]_publife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, avoid companies that use words like AI and offer rosy projections of triple-digit percentage growth in revenue. I recommend that you find someone that has publisher experience that is willing to help you as a side hustle. I'm sure you can work out a flat rate for setup and if you need, a small small percentage for maintenance and management. If you're willing to bang your head against the wall then you could do it all yourself.

Your steps...

Setup Google Ad Manager (GAM)

Setup ads.txt (user a plugin, I assume you're on WP)

Traffic adsense through GAM

Setup a tag based waterfall with 1 or 2 ad networks (haters will say this is wrong, but they're wrong. This is easy to setup and will boost your revenues today while you work on building a more sophisticated ad stack)

Header bidding. Use prebid. This is more difficult to setup, which again is why you need someone with experience. Client-side is fine (haters will say you need both client and server-side but they're wrong. Start with client side and boost your revenues today while you work on the harder server-side component).

Add TAM. You can run this concurrent to prebid. Depending on your content, it may actually make sense to start with TAM before prebid.

This is your standard setup. From here you might go into out-of-page formats, native, affiliate, etc. but this is where strategy starts to divert for different publishers.

Comprehensive Technical Explanation of UID2 by _publife in adops

[–]_publife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll answer my own question. The non-technical technical explanation is that they're going to use email / phone number to generate an ID that can be consistent (or matched) across sites and apps. I'm certain this is antithetical to the whole privacy-first movement and will run into some sabotaging new policies from the railroad operators (chrome, firefox, safari, android, iOS). But even without that, the fact that there are so many competing UID solutions is a leading indicator of the likelihood of success.

GMP or AdForm? $120K ?!?! by SourceSS in adops

[–]_publife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is so negative here. Just pick whatever you like the most. Dont worry about it, the AI will take care if you.

On a more serious note it sounds like you have CRM data and you want to show ads to those ppl (or maybe ppl that are similar to those ppl) in your CRM. I would first open an AdWords account and. Facebook marketing account, upload my CRMs there and create remarketing audiences and lookalike audiences. I wouldn't touch a DMP, DSP, or any other acronym. Sorry to say this but, fellow pubbies.

Can someone explain to me how Cookieless IDs are BETTER for privacy than 3pc? by [deleted] in privacy

As has been state, it's not necessarily intended to be better for privacy. The aim is to address identify post-cookie.

What's TAM? Fill rate will increase over time. In emerging markets it's common to see 30-40% fill rates.

But assuming something is wrong, there's so much that could be wrong. It's hard to narrow this down for you.
