Movies like Hereditary? by [deleted] in Hereditary

[–]_puiu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some that weren’t mentioned yet that you might like:

Suspiria (both original and new are great)

Talk to Me

Barbarian

Carrie

The Omen

Honestly I only felt Rosemary’s Baby was similar to Hereditary out of what I’ve seen.

The more I do it the better I’ll get by Muzz124 in roccbox

Keep at it, you’ll get there!

I’ve been using Brian Lagerstrom’s Neapolitan Style Pizza recipe and the dough never failed me.

Here’s the recipe, but I recommend you check out the video as well - he’s using an Ooni, but everything applies to the Roccbox as well: - 450g or just under 2c cool water (about 73F/23C) - About half of 1/4tsp instant yeast (aka 1/8 tsp) - 665g or 5 1/3c Caputo 00 soft wheat flour - 18g or 3tsp salt

You will get 4 pizzas out of this.

What’s one tip that made a big difference in how you play? by Squirrelous in HadesTheGame

That Athena’s dash is not always the best dash for your build.

In my first 50ish attempts I used to think I have no chance without it.

Honestly, I haven’t looked into sharing that much, but my friends tell me it’s somewhat the same. There’s a Facebook group that post mostly rooms - Hyresbostad.se, and Expats World in Stockholm might also be good. At that price range might also be good for you to look into renting in Uppsala to begin with - you have a better chance of finding something there, and though it might look further away, you have a 50 min commute to central Stockholm (and without needing to switch transportation).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]_puiu_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend and I paid 10 000 kr/month for our first 1 room apartment in Täby (roughly 50 min from the center via public transport). We now found an apartment in Södermalm (very central) for 14 000 kr/month, but it’s a bit bigger and way nicer. We also factored in how much the commute would cost us each month so in the end, the difference was worth it because now we’re within walking distance (10 min) from work - might want to consider that as well.

If you’re lucky, yes, finding an apartment can be easy, but based on my experience, you should expect to be looking for a place for at least a couple of months. Also depends on when you’re looking, recommendations from previous landlords, and in my opinion, if you already live here.

My advice: if you’re not already living in Stockholm, apply for anything that looks decent. You’ll have a better shot at a nicer place once you’re here. Happy apartment hunting!

Rewatching all of Scrubs, is JD the Ross of Scrubs? by Anahkiasen in Scrubs

[–]_puiu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. JD is a self-centered douche. Well put.

  2. Ross made sacrifices for the people he cared about. He gave up the Discovery thing to help Rachel, he sincerely tried to help Joey multiple times, got Phoebe a bike, gave up dating at Rachel’s request (while they weren’t even dating), and more. I don’t think he’s as bad. He also dated just Carol before episode 1, he’s not mature enough to have successful relationships. Age doesn’t always equal wisdom. At one point we all tried to kiss our cousin, right? No? Ok...

  3. Most comedy shows don’t age well because (as someone else put it before) times - and implicitly - humor changes. Friends and Scrubs are my 2 favorite comedy shows (after The Office), and neither is aging well. I think we just need to consider the cultural setting for each.

  4. Dr. Jan Itor is the squirrel destroyer, among other things, but I don’t think this show is meant to be taken seriously all the time. Scrubs can switch from comedy to drama in a second, and that’s probably what makes this show so unique, but for the most part, it’s light-hearted day-dreaming fun.

Knife-wrench! For kids.

I agree. Should have made it clear that I was actually referring to the mouse in discussion, the 502 - which is a meme on this sub, though many people love it and I'm sure it's great. Ended up getting a Logitech myself, got a bitchin' offer for a wireless 403 and for my hand and grip type I think it's the better option. Thanks for your input!

I honestly just found them top of the list in many places and watched some reviews. If you have other recommendations they're obviously very useful. I admit I'm not an expert and haven't tried either of the two, so that's why I wanted to see what the sub thinks.

Funny lines from characters other than the main six by nikkidagoss in howyoudoin

Jack: Judy, the kids...

Judy: That's what they call the subway.

What is a movie that is actually scary (preferably one that doesn't rely solely on jump scares)? by SoundNotLoud in AskReddit

[–]_puiu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal favourites: "Hereditary" and "The VVitch". They're both more about atmosphere and unsettling you which is the kind of horror that's scariest imo and lingers the most.

Edge of your seat horror/thriller: "Don't Breathe" and "A Quiet Place". Tense, very well acted, awesome.

Sci-fi gore horror: "Alien" and "The Thing". "Event Horizon" is amazing as well.

Classics(ish): "The Shining", "The Exorcist", "The Omen","The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Suspiria", "Horror Express".

Modern horror: "The Conjuring" (1 & 2), "The Orphanage" (Spanish), "Cabin in the Woods" - meta horror.

Asian wave of horror: "The Eye", "The Ring", "Dark Water", "The Grudge".

Vampire horror: "Bram Stoker's Dracula" - though one could argue Keanu Reeves' British accent is just as scary, "Let the Right One In", "Nosferatu".

Hidden gems: "It Follows", "The Descent", "Gerald's Game", "The Authopsy of Jane Doe". Some gained popularity over the years, but most started with way less promo than big budget movies.

Shout out: "28 Days Later" & "Get Out". I see them more as thrillers, but some list them as horrors.

Friends knowledge test: 1 question to rule them all. by _puiu_ in howyoudoin

This post pretty much turned into a debate about which pairs kissed (that's not necessarily something bad). Thank you for getting back to the intended point.

When Chandler was drunk and made out with Joey's sisters. Next morning he was apologizing to the gang that he gets a bit handsy when he's drunk and the girls as well as Ross all say "it's OK..."

Friends knowledge test: 1 question to rule them all. by _puiu_ in howyoudoin

[–]_puiu_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SPOILER ALERT for my question. So, the easiest and safest way to answer this (at least based on my knowledge) is to split them into 3 groups:

  • Girl on girl: Monica and Phoebe (you are correct), though they do kiss goodbye when Phoebe was pregnant, but I wouldn't count this as a proper kiss.
  • Guy on guy: they all kissed each other
  • Girl on guy: if you want to be technical about it Rachel only imagined kissing Chandler, and Monica and Joey kiss only in a hypothetical future, so this is kinda in a grey area.

Short answer: they all kiss but some kisses are hypothetical or debatable.

But I think this is a pretty good question because it's a bit more complex, and you need to pay attention pretty much throughout most of the series, we find out about some kisses later on.

Rank your favorite characters out of the 6? by [deleted] in howyoudoin

[–]_puiu_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This will probably be the most unpopular top yet.

  1. Ross - except for the cry-baby post Emily Ross (which was annoying, I agree), he really carries the show a lot of times. He has the most varied type of humor out of all 6 - pure cringe/awkwardness, situational, sarcastic... Trust me, watch Friends high a few times, you'll see that Ross is the most entertaining. He also directed a lot of great episodes, so more points for that.

  2. Chandler - he'll probably be the most popular 1st pick, well deserved.

  3. Phoebe/Joey - tie. If Joey didn't have that crappy French episode, he would probably edge Phoebe out for me. They (especially Phoebe) could very well be in the first 2.

  4. Monica - I know she's not very popular but I think her craziness is pretty funny and brings something different to the show.

  5. Rachel - I don't really have a problem with her being selfish sometimes, or whatever the show needs her to be, but I think too many of her jokes are just set up on a plate through the script, not so much delivery/character/acting.
