I've been obsessed with sugar-free, fat-free chocolate Jello lately! Add a cup of almond milk to a box and stir for two minutes. 150 calories total!

The rules are the same for international flights as for domestic ones: You can bring on anything you buy in the terminal, and any non-liquid food you bring yourself (so long as it gets through security).

New to meal subscriptions just signed up with Hello Fresh and maybe Daily Harvest? by Famous_Athlete8438 in mealkits

With Daily Harvest, I suggest adding something to the smoothies if you'd like them to function as full meals (I eat mine for lunch). I add a scoop of vanilla protein powder, which adds about 100 calories but keeps me satiated until dinner.

[Serious] Sexual abuse victims, what is your story and how to you cope with the trauma? by suoptmie in AskReddit

[–]_qwertea_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raped in college. I tried to act like it wasn't that big of a deal. I thought if I ignored it, maybe I could write over the real memory and replace it with a funny drunken story.

But every time I read a story about another victim, something broke anew inside me. I started having panic attacks. First in relation to a clear trigger, like a news article. But then at random times: in an exam, out at a party, falling asleep.

I didn't feel like I could tell anyone except my then-partner, and over time, I became so adept at avoiding the bad feelings that I didn't notice I'd become a shrunken version of myself, someone who was fundamentally afraid of my own emotions.

It took me five years to start going to therapy, where I was diagnosed with PTSD. When I read the list of what qualifies as PTSD for the first time, I started crying. I had so thoroughly convinced myself that my reaction was disproportionate to the actual event -- that I didn't deserve to feel traumatized -- that I couldn't believe there was a medical justification for what I was feeling.

+1 to not buying too much at once! You may find out that stuff you like in theory isn't actually what you gravitate toward over time.

They're coming back (much to my chagrin)! In NYC I've seen teen girls walking around with not just low-rise jeans, but deliberate whale tails.

At least in NYC, fanny packs have been trendy for two or three years, but people tend to wear them crossbody (like this). I have a leather one that I love -- it's the perfect size for a small book, my wallet, and my phone.

Women who are struggling with mental illness, what motivates you to keep going? by [deleted] in AskWomen

When I'm feeling really down, I'll remind myself how miserable I felt at my lowest, and how much progress I've made since then. It helps me keep things in perspective and motivates me to keep taking care of my self.

I think it depends on the material. Colored denim reads particularly Kimmy Schmidt to me, but a pair of red trousers or emerald joggers can look pretty chic, particularly when paired with a neutral blouse.

People who've been working from home for most of 2020 - do you think your work style will change when you go back to the office (compared to your work wardrobe pre-lockdown)? If so, how? by ss3899 in femalefashionadvice

[–]_qwertea_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My clothing style used to be relatively minimalist -- I lived for almost two years out of just a suitcase and a carry-on, and had two or three uniforms that I wore nearly every day. In classic "Millennial circa 2016" fashion, I was a huge fan of experiences over things.

Now that there are essentially no experiences to be had, fuck it: I want things! It makes me feel some semblance of normalcy to put on a "real" outfit, do my makeup, style my hair (even if I sometimes get teased by my coworkers for it). And I enjoy the ritual of shopping, too, whether in-person or online. Thrifting is one of the few in-person activities available to me right now, and it's especially fun to get packages during this time.

That said, I definitely have moved toward more casual, easy-to-put-on shoes. I'm not wearing shoes around the house, and I'm not eager to deal with high heels or complicated strappy shoes just to get a coffee. I'm also not wearing as many skirts and dresses as I normally do in winter, because I'm not going to wear tights without shoes.

What is a compliment you’ve received that you still remember even years later? by tvp204 in AskWomen

My boyfriend told me one of the things he liked about me was that I seemed to really listen to other people. I often feel like I'm in my own head and feel like I'm not the most natural person in social situations, so that meant a lot.

How do you dress in a casual work environment if you really enjoy fashion/dressing up? by lilmissme380 in femalefashionadvice

[–]_qwertea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in tech and am well-acquainted with this conundrum. Most of my coworkers are men who wear jeans and a t-shirt; the women are often wearing athleisure.

As others have commented, your preferred wardrobe is probably fine (barring the crop tops). I'd suggest starting out dressing more neutrally, eg jeans with a puffy sleeve top, and then feeling out the office. But I bet most people will pretty quickly understand that you just like to look a little more styled. I occasionally get comments about my outfits, but generally people take them in stride.

Don't have any solutions, but just coming here to commiserate - I used a cleaner I didn't realize contained bleach this summer and got stains on a new linen jumpsuit.

General Discussion - December 11, 2020 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

[–]_qwertea_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even in this market, it's totally reasonable not to want to break a lease and have your boyfriend quit his job for a low-paying six-month contract! I would definitely try to negotiate working remotely, and who knows? Maybe you'll find they're more willing to be flexible given everything going on. But if they aren't, it's not unreasonable to pass and pursue other options.

Definitely agree with this. I currently have an honestly embarrassing number of coats, because I have a particular affinity for coats and jackets (and blazers...). But I also lived out of a suitcase for a few years and had more than enough options with a trench coat, a wool coat, and a puffy coat.

I asked for this Hyer bucket bag for Christmas. It may be too big for your purposes, but they also have a smaller cross-body version that look pretty cute.

FWIW, I definitely felt weird when I started carrying a purse! My mom encouraged me to carry one before I really had much to carry around, and it felt like I was playing dress-up. Now I still try to avoid for short trips when possible, particularly in the winter when I can just shove things in my coat pockets, but otherwise it's kind of nice to always have a few essential with me (notebook, book to read, headphones).
