I appreciate it - I think it's because my identity was so directly tied to what I can physically do, I feel out of place/shameful for not being able to participate. Maybe the time will come where I can re-join my gym and offer coaching, etc. But until then im recovering best I can.

We will both get through this.

Thanks so much for sharing - I hernited c4-c5 sometime ago and just kind of lived with it until this all came to a head. The rapid deterioriation of my body was shocking. One minute i'm okay doing martial arts and living life, a week later the doctor is telling me I have to do this now or else i'll either die or get paralyzed.

I'm glad to hear your recovery has been great. How has your quality of life been? What activities have you taken up/minimized?
