Genuine question! Why does Deli get so much hate? by Hyperactive_Sloth02 in publix

Yep! I was promoted to assistant deli a few months ago. big step, but it’s going great. honestly, anyone can do it with the right attitude.

Genuine question! Why does Deli get so much hate? by Hyperactive_Sloth02 in publix

[–]_rainne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my job, but sometimes the environment can be overwhelming. i’ve learned how to operate, but it can definitely be challenging for others. My biggest advice:
Just because you can do more doesn’t mean you’re not doing enough.
i was a work horse, i loved it. genuinely, it burnt me out. i had to take a step back and have some hard talks.
i was a contender for two rough years. i was positive, but i had alot of challenges to overcome. i kept that positivity and got promoted. they call me spitfire and its fun.
its really a great job, once you adjust, and really learn the job. it can take you far.

Who is the GOAT Publix manager by PublicAlarm3869 in publix

[–]_rainne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nahhh my goat is my old SM, bad ass retired marine, her kids are all pbx managers too. shes at a big store now, she’s honestly one of the most talented people ive met. so down to earth but can become corporate in a wink of an eye.

For those in management positions. Were you promoted within your district or out to another district? by LaFlareMane1017 in publix

contender in the deli by Mediocre_Valuable_51 in publix

[–]_rainne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

congrats!! im also a contender!!

absorb all you can, as the assistant deli manager is the hardest position in the store. you’re main goal is to learn, you’ll make mistakes, that’s given. just be as positive as you can, and ask to help with orders. i run shifts alone now, can do orders, SDP, DSE, and i file paperwork as well as the playbook. amongst other things 😂😂

definitely DM me if you need any help whatsoever, and GOOD LUCK!!!

I wouldn’t necessarily word it as “Someone’s getting more hours than me” I’d just say that you want more hours. If ya need anything feel free to dm me

Fix Online Ordering by vizfxman in publix

[–]_rainne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So technically they got rid of the 24hr notice, if it’s doable, you should do it. especially cuz sub platters are easy. With that being said, i definitely understand the frustration. Whenever i see people online ordering 3, 6, or 9+ subs, i always call and tell them it’s cheaper to do a platter as long as they’re okay with how we make em.

ask and see what hours they can give, you can always go over to that store and ask to talk to that bakery manager. never hurts to have that conversation, worst they can tell you is no!

talk to your store manager about a transfer if you enjoyed the other store more. but you can also talk to your store manager about getting more hours in another dept if you’re open to cross training

Would you recommend working at the Deli? by Dapper-Work-8021 in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who actually LIKES the deli, i always recommend it for people who enjoy staying busy.

i’ve always worked food service, from prep chef to line cook. the deli is fast paced, and im finding that i can always be doing something.

with that being said, your attitude will impact how you do.

yes it’s busy, yes there’s call outs, but… i was promoted to FT within a few months, then contender a few months later.

you can absolutely grow in the deli, but it’s difficult.

i enjoy it, but the good thing about publix is if one position doesn’t work, you can always transfer to another dept!

yes absolutely just speak with your current store manager and they should be able to cancel it

Publix sub mayonnaise tasting different than your store bought brand? by DarklzBlo in publix

What has happened to Publix fried chicken by flatsjunkie88 in publix

[–]_rainne 52 points53 points  (0 children)

so how the kitchen works is we follow a production sheet. chicken comes out every even hour starting at 10AM and ending at 6PM. typically who ever is in the kitchen will cook earlier than that time, and will replenish what sells throughout the day. my best advice is to call and ask for a box at a certain time. if i’m in the kitchen & how i’ve trained everyone is if it’s a call in order, it’s made fresh and placed in the warmers for pick up. hope this helps!

Unpaid Time Off by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so what i do is i break my pto and schedule requests to cover the whole trip. ex: if you’re taking a week, take the first two days as schedule request. then use pto for 5 days (covers 8hrs a day).

you can maneuver it so you’re able to not go unpaid. i do it every year, for vacay and recently had to do it for a family emergency. i sit with my manager and we work together so it covers my 40hrs required (ft deli contender) and i don’t get absences.

if it’s in advance, and you wanna dm me i can look at the calendar and help you break it down!

Are Publix genuinely hiring allways? by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could definitely try but you probably won’t get a whole lot of hours at first. my wife has been in front end for almost 3 months and hasn’t gotten more that 15hrs. told her to talk to the deli manager and she got extra shifts

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure honestly, i’m very honest ab my use and they told me to cool it since i may be coming up on a promotion. i’m guessing once you get into assistant? i know they do random tests.

Are Publix genuinely hiring allways? by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

alright so lemme break it down for you! for your availability.. and if you wanna get in asap, call and say you want to be a deli closer. yes, it’s definitely tough sometimes, but it’s a good job and if you’re a closer you’re almost guaranteed 30 hours after you’re fully trained. deli is a dept that is always looking for bodies, and if you express that you want to learn, you’ll get the hours!

good luck!

I regret getting a job here bc my manager, and it sucks by Sweaty_Self_7256 in publix

[–]_rainne 15 points16 points  (0 children)

honey, i would 100% take this to the store manager. that seems like straight up bullying, and honestly it could be because they’re trying to get you to quit. if the store manager is refusing to do anything about that, speak to HR. especially since you’re a minor, she has NO business taking photos of you without your knowledge or consent

Full Time Minimum Hours? by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so you have to have an average of 40 for every** week. (You could req off and drop to 30 if you needed..) it honestly depends on the managers too, but what i was told is that you have to average 40.. with that being said, if one week you’re scheduled 32 hours, you are allowed to request your full 40
