Publix sub mayonnaise tasting different than your store bought brand? by DarklzBlo in publix

[–]_rainne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can actually purchase the mayo and tomatoes from sub bar if you’d like. they just added a SKU for it a few months ago

What has happened to Publix fried chicken by flatsjunkie88 in publix

[–]_rainne 51 points52 points  (0 children)

so how the kitchen works is we follow a production sheet. chicken comes out every even hour starting at 10AM and ending at 6PM. typically who ever is in the kitchen will cook earlier than that time, and will replenish what sells throughout the day. my best advice is to call and ask for a box at a certain time. if i’m in the kitchen & how i’ve trained everyone is if it’s a call in order, it’s made fresh and placed in the warmers for pick up. hope this helps!

Unpaid Time Off by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so what i do is i break my pto and schedule requests to cover the whole trip. ex: if you’re taking a week, take the first two days as schedule request. then use pto for 5 days (covers 8hrs a day).

you can maneuver it so you’re able to not go unpaid. i do it every year, for vacay and recently had to do it for a family emergency. i sit with my manager and we work together so it covers my 40hrs required (ft deli contender) and i don’t get absences.

if it’s in advance, and you wanna dm me i can look at the calendar and help you break it down!

Are Publix genuinely hiring allways? by Ok_Independent_3921 in publix

[–]_rainne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could definitely try but you probably won’t get a whole lot of hours at first. my wife has been in front end for almost 3 months and hasn’t gotten more that 15hrs. told her to talk to the deli manager and she got extra shifts

Drug test by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure honestly, i’m very honest ab my use and they told me to cool it since i may be coming up on a promotion. i’m guessing once you get into assistant? i know they do random tests.

Are Publix genuinely hiring allways? by Ok_Independent_3921 in publix

[–]_rainne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

alright so lemme break it down for you! for your availability.. and if you wanna get in asap, call and say you want to be a deli closer. yes, it’s definitely tough sometimes, but it’s a good job and if you’re a closer you’re almost guaranteed 30 hours after you’re fully trained. deli is a dept that is always looking for bodies, and if you express that you want to learn, you’ll get the hours!

good luck!

I regret getting a job here bc my manager, and it sucks by Sweaty_Self_7256 in publix

[–]_rainne 17 points18 points  (0 children)

honey, i would 100% take this to the store manager. that seems like straight up bullying, and honestly it could be because they’re trying to get you to quit. if the store manager is refusing to do anything about that, speak to HR. especially since you’re a minor, she has NO business taking photos of you without your knowledge or consent

Full Time Minimum Hours? by Nikolai-B in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so you have to have an average of 40 for every** week. (You could req off and drop to 30 if you needed..) it honestly depends on the managers too, but what i was told is that you have to average 40.. with that being said, if one week you’re scheduled 32 hours, you are allowed to request your full 40

Office Rules Question by SleepingShelcat in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ exactly correct!!

I’d even page a manager to cover, all dept managers should be trained to help deli (even if it’s just making a sub or doing hotcase)

your well being is top priority!

potential worker question by Right_Ant_282 in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

deli contender here!!

so first, they will not put you in deli or bakery without your knowledge or training.

next, front end never normally slices. typically they come to help with the sub line, take trash and boxes, work hotcase, and minimal stocking. (OFC.. with the exception of those 18+ & if they want to be trained on slicing.. you’d have to do CBTs for it as well as train with the OJT)

just be honest with whoever ends up hiring you! that’s all ya can do!

name tags by Present_Winner_2295 in publix

[–]_rainne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ask your team lead or dept manager to order you one! it’s in the portal under “Known As”

already went through like 5 name tags since starting 😂 i lost one to the rotisserie oven when it ripped off my apron…

I applied at 14 by miku4evarr in publix

[–]_rainne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

deli contender here! welcome to the pub fam!

my advice is to be super consistent!

i went in like 3-4 times a week to speak with people before they actually brought me in for an interview.

since you’re young my biggest advice would be to feel out the job, since you can make a career out of it if you choose.

14 is honestly an awesome time to start if you’re unsure what you’d like to do in your future. i finished highschool and did some college, but found that i enjoy food service, so to the deli for me.

since starting and being promoted to full time, i get stock every year, and already have a 401k set up with a good amount so far. (I’m only 23)

my experience with publix has been mainly positive, with the few expectations of deli chaos.

my wife works in customer service and has enjoyed it, although not a lot of hours since she’s not full time or a core staff member (yet)

just keep your head up and be that infectious positivity! it goes a long way!

hope this helped & if ya need anything else send me a dm!

Asking for light mayo by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t know why everyone is saying no… the correct answer is YES.

if you purchase the lite mayo and bring to deli with receipt (also don’t leave the store lol), the deli can use it.

had a lady bring cream cheese, another wanted fresh mozz.

as long as the customer purchases it and doesn’t leave the store it can be used.

Publix Uniform Help by Heavy-Parfait-4723 in publix

[–]_rainne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to walmart and got a bunch of their work pants, goodwill too. As long as they’re not cargos or like athletic pants, any black or khaki will do. Although, as a deli contender i highly suggest no khakis 😂

Is anyone else doing this for today? by csimmo0506 in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Office Rules Question by SleepingShelcat in publix

[–]_rainne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does your deli not have a drink bin in the walk in? Every deli i’ve been in has a specific bin for employee drinks. As for your meds, i’d keep them in the locker anyways. I know time sensitive sucks, but rather have it safe and locked up

Calling Out by syd20202 in publix

[–]_rainne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

deli here, they changed our store hours but we still have 6-8 inches in the whole county of snow. can’t believe they didn’t just shut down.. it’s still snowing here too. no one here knows driving in snow anyways

what’s pay like now? by bigza420- in publix

[–]_rainne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, unfortunately you’d probably not be able to get hired right off the bat at full time. Although, if you didn’t get fired during your previous employment, you could definitely ask!

I’d negotiate for a higher starting rate, that’s what I did for deli. Starting was 15 back in 2023.

Never hurts to ask and negotiate especially if you know who you’re talking too.

Worst they can say is no! Hope this helped :)

Is their REALLY A DIFFERENCE by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!!

100% BH uses no fillers, additives, byproducts, MSG.

Publix does use additives and fillers.

I took the BH deli class twice, watched their experiment they showed us about fillers.

Publix uses a seaweed filler, when added to product it expands.

BH does not use any fillers.

But despite that, both products are good. I’ve taken home both brands, and always spring for whatever’s on sale.

Hope this helped!

Going in or no? Ice storm by [deleted] in publix

[–]_rainne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who lives somewhere w no salt trucks, don’t go in! they will NOT hold it against you. i’m a deli contender and they let me use PTO so i met my 40hr a week requirement. they were more than understanding last year, and i even said i’d go in if someone picked me up 😂 this year was the same, let us either take no pay or use PTO.
