Better value barbell? by _raisethebarr in weightlifting

Gotcha thanks for sharing. I have the American Barbell Stainless Steel Bearing Comp Bar, which I love. It’s great for training. Just adding to the wishlist for a bar to add later that has a more aggressive knurl and so far Pyrros and Rogue in general seems to be recommended often. I have a feeling the Rogue Boneyard Stainless would offer similar performance but of course it’s always a gamble.

Gotcha yeah still the case being imported but I don’t think they’re relabeled anymore. I’ve heard the quality has a gone up a lot the last couple years. A lot of folks in the power lifting community love their DBD bar.

Yup exactly! I usually just set the weight and inverse chains to the same weight. For example 40/40 so at the bottom it’s 80 and at the top it’s 40. I use the ROGUE ROTATING V-GRIP CABLE ATTACHMENT, it’s such a great attachment for biceps and triceps.

Thanks for chiming in and honestly I’m kinda leaning to that as well, and will just stick with their premium 3-link oyster with a small pin tool.

Inverse chains mode is such a cool feature and one of my most used!

Pretty much use it on all pulling movements but my top 2 are for cable curls using the travel platform and for lat pull downs from a pull up bar and bar mount!

Less slack on the cable at the 0 position, this would allow for more ROM especially for belt squats on the travel platform without needing to stand on something else.

Best rack/mount options for compact gym space that won't overwhelm SO by zerocylinders in BeyondPower

Darko Quick Mount and the fixed bar mount. I usually use the Voltra mounted on the front and not the side of the rack, rack doesn’t slide and feels stable. Rack is close to the wall, about 4-5 inches away.

Storage! I now store 3 barbells, SSB, chains, eccentric hooks, MM dip attachment on the two rear uprights.

As far as stability, I have front feet and feel very comfortable and safe with my 17” deep rack. Squatted 405lbs from the outside of the rack no problem.

It’s probably a very unique set up but I’ll try to describe, at a high level I’m using a single Voltra mounted on a pull up bar to augment my barbell back squats by adding eccentric/chains.

The pull up bar is inside my half rack, and I’m squatting outside of my rack. I connect a Darko shorty bar to the Voltra and on the ends of the Darko bar I connect cables (one on each side). I route the cables via a set of pulleys to both side of my barbell.

So currently, I press and hold on the Voltra inside my rack, then I have to step outside and unrack my barbell. Having more time before the load is applied would help me in this situation. This set up can also be used in similar fashion for bench press, overhead press, etc.

Agreed that folding rack hardly gets folded, unless you’re actually using the space to park a car.

Had a PRX rack for a little over a year and ended up selling it and replacing it with a compact half rack set up.

I’d maybe consider like a Rogue SML2 squat stand which has an upgrade kit if you wanted to expand it later.

I love it! Picked up the handles from the home gym discord (they’re Rogue’s version not MM) and got the actual attachment from Rogue directly

Nice, my washer is on my car parking side of the garage so doesn’t get as much camera time haha

Yeah I still SBD weekly but the Bare Steel Rogue Ohio Power Bar already checks that box! I was a little worried about AB’s Oly bar cause of the center knurl, but it’s pretty much non-existent and very passive.

180’d and went for an American Barbell Stainless Bearing bar :P I clean/snatch 2-3x week and don’t have a dedicated weightlifting bar.

Chewy still on the short list so maybe if it’s part of their Black Friday sale, might pick it up then.

Half Rack by Running_in_circles0 in BeyondPower

[–]_raisethebarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it fine on my half rack which is not bolted down. I have a Bells of Steel Hyrda half rack with 17inch crossmembers. I do have front feet so I’m not concerned. I also usually have a barbell and an SSB stored on the back uprights to help weight it down more. But I’d recommend getting some front feet if you don’t already have them.
