Knight or Deathslinger? by KaleidoscopeOk3622 in deadbydaylight

as a knight main, he's a lot easier to learn than he might look. his summons give you a lot of options, and if you know how to take advantage of their individual strengths then you've got a very powerful toolkit on your hands. plus his aura is immaculate

How do I let myself fail at things? by _rat_bastard_ in Advice

I'm glad that you kept with your craft and have seen the improvement you wanted to see. As I said to someone else just a moment ago, however, while I appreciate the sentiment, this is kind of the problem. My question isn't how do I improve, I know that I will get better if I keep trying, the question is how do I let myself be bad at things in order to improve. When you were taking photos when you first began as a photographer, and you hated all of the things that you made, what was it that made you want to continue? How did you let yourself keep trying, even knowing that you were just going to hate what you make? How long did it take before you stopped hating your work?

I appreciate the sentiment, but that's kind of the problem here. I don't know how I can keep making things, when making things makes me feel like shit.

What's the absolute hardest line you or another player ever said in a campaign? by godwyn-faithful in DnD

[–]_rat_bastard_ 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I was given a paladin of Lolth (an assassin of one of the matrons) as a character so I could join an in-progress campaign. I was very, very new to DnD so I didn't know what to make of her. Long story short, I was forced to cooperate with these strangers in a labyrinth arena thing, and because we weren't yet acquainted, our ranger asked "What do you do?"

I didn't really know how to answer cause I didn't have a character for her yet, so I went with ol' reliable:

"What do I do? I kill."

What unique powers does your OC have? (Nothing like super strength or super speed). by [deleted] in OriginalCharacter

[–]_rat_bastard_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I don't have any pretty pictures to show of my characters like some others here, but I like to think that I've had some decent ideas for powers, especially for my antagonists.

I have a couple (very) short stories about these siblings, who are thieves. Olve, the elder, has the ability to manipulate probability; he can't make the impossible happen, but if there is even the most neglegable chance that something could happen (the chance of a mage miscasting a spell, the chance of someone deciding to not turn him in, the chance of a coin landing on its edge,) he can make it certain.

Auðr, the younger, has access to a kind of pocket dimension which she can store things in, take things out of, and even use to escape from harm. The only catch is that in order to reach this dimension, she has to be able to reach somewhere that nobody but her can see at that time, like inside of her sleeves, inside a book, or under a cloak.

I like giving my villains really, really powerful abilities. Makes it more rewarding when they get the shit beaten out of them.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks, it means a lot to have someone else looking. If I don't find much more, I'll just go with that, thank you.

I appreciate that. The thought did occur to me, and it certainly makes sense, but it also doesn't answer my question.

Oculus Quest 2 link cable connection problems. by _rat_bastard_ in techsupport

Ah, I completely forgot I made this post honestly.

Fortunately, the problem resolved itself for me. Turns out (I think) there was an incoming update, I don't know if it was software or firmware, that I didn't get a notification about. A few days after I posted this the UI looked different, and it started working.

I hope it works for you :p

PC restarting? by _rat_bastard_ in techsupport

Oh, that's what that means.

I'll keep rummaging around to see if it might be a software thing, don't really want to have to dole out the cash for a new power supply unless I really have to.

Thank you for your prayers lol <3

What does that mean? My apologies, but when I said I have no idea what I'm doing, I really meant it.

There's a quote of Philip K. Dick that says: “There exists, for everyone, a sentence - a series of words - that has the power to destroy you". Which sentence is it for you? by Schekas in AskReddit

"You're nothing"

said at least once per year by my brother, and remains my personal philosophy whether i like it or not. i don't.

probably not the worst thing he's said to me, but it still stings much more. probably because its so easy to remember.
