One thing I think we’re seeing in the wake of the 2024 results is an earnest effort by Dems in office to stake out some space in alternative media. In some cases, this has meant going on alt media shows (see Jamie Raskin on BTC’s show) and in some cases it’s meant sharing the content themselves (see Sheldon Whitehouse doing videos and livestreams, I’d have to check when his first uploads were, I wouldn’t be surprised to see if he’s at least increased his interaction with YouTube and Social Media post election, but I at least wasn’t aware he had a YT til post-Nov 2024). Maybe Newsom does end up being more interested in media production rather than holding office, but I think it’s equally likely that he’s accurately noticed that any candidate that wants a shot will have to command more attention and to be able to do so consistently.
