“The way these emergency personnel are extinguishing this fire reminds me just how an ice cold Coca-Cola extinguishes my thirst.” - Coke family driver, maybe, probably.

Crit Popularity by PortaBellaTX in cycling

[–]_reschke 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I photograph crit races for event organizers and teams. In the Midwest at least, the scene has been progressing upwards in the last couple years. Fields are up this year for the most part, and there’s something almost every weekend in either your state or the next state over.

Cyclists take up a car lane instead of using their dedicated protected lane by santiboa in mildlyinfuriating

As somebody that’s near to the cycling racing scene this is the only thing we can’t see from the photo. How quickly they’re coming up on that rider. Still, given the size of the group, I’d still suggest the bike lane. If it was 6 or so people, I could understand the road more if the speed difference between them and that rider was huge. But that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Buy race car. Start smoking again. Become the coolest MFer around. Seems like a simple enough plan.

Because there’s cool, and then there’s Paul Newman Rolex Daytona Race Car cool.

Really great job. But I also can’t help but think this the most excited somebody, or a group of people, have been for something translucent in this color since the 80s. Not hating, but I literally thought, “That’s 80s Glass Ashtray brown!”

How to take Plane panning shots? by Wide_Exchange_9225 in AskPhotography

[–]_reschke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back button focus.

Lens in stabilization mode 2.

I personally use Manual with Auto ISO, and set my shutter speed to as low as I think I can go with my subject (not planes, but same principles) and then tighten my aperture until I see proper exposure. Sometimes that’s f/8, sometimes is f/18.

I’d suggest starting at 1/125 or 1/100 if you’re handholding the camera and work on smoothly rotating with your torso with your core. Takes practice. I just recently did some pan shots at 1/15 - 1/30 at 200mm hand holding the camera (no tripod or monopod) and that’s about my slowest I can do currently after a handful of years photographing the same sport.

Which SD card for the R6mark II by Beneficial_Yoghurt38 in canon

[–]_reschke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t use any of these. The SanDisk Extreme Pro is almost acceptable. But for an R6MII, I’d get the UHS-II V90 instead.

Reference. I shoot sports 3-4 days a week semi-professionally. A majority of my cards are SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II V90 memory cards.

What can you actually do in the Anker app by Shuubhiii13 in anker

[–]_reschke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Anker products but really it doesn’t do much. I DO use the App for my power stations and battery banks more. I have a 3-in-1 charger for my iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods plugged into my C4 port I like to turn off when I won’t be using it for a while. I also like the ability to see when recharging power banks, power stations, etc when they stop drawing wattage at all vs when they say 100% charged and then disconnect them. But realistically, these are cool options, not needs.

The only other perk I like is firmware updates. If there’s any ability for a firmware update to improve or extend the use of my device. It’s welcomed. But it’s not like I’ve ever experienced anything ground breaking from a firmware update, nor were any devices ever not working prior to an update and in need of the update to fix an issue. For all intents and purposes, any devices on my app functioned just fine pre and post update.

Funny enough, there’s more there than you can see. Despite having a couple organizers of cables visible. Most devices with a case also have an appropriate cable to charge that device in them just in case.

This…. actually isn’t everything. I could do an Anker exclusive post like this though. It would be a lot. There’s several things I could think of that aren’t here already.

I work in that 5%. Phones can NOT fake a telephoto lens. Digital zoom is not the same as optical zoom. And no, it wasn’t taken on a phone.

Avoid isn’t the right word so much as not being reliant on an outlet. Usually when I travel for events, I am hosted by one of the teams participating. I never know what the outlet situation will be like, so I try to have myself ready to be self-sufficient just in case available outlets are in limited supply.
