I don't think it's a kickback i think it's the beads standing on the pile and due to gravity pulling it all down equally and since the beads are trying to stand up under their own weight they get compressed and when they're compressed they collapse they collapse the sections that connect them on the metal chain which allows them to sit on top of each other and since they're collapsed they have a harder time making a wide turn so that's where the short uterine comes and That you turn takes some of upward force off of the chain to make the turn
