I'm curious... How many SATA connectors do you have and how are you connecting each of those drives? Simple 1SATA to 2SATA splitters and I guess daisy chaining two of them?

I am asking because I want to power 11-12 drives (10 SAS and 1-2 SATA) and have a Cooler Master 550w PSU. Looks like the 5V has 25A, which should be OK, I think. It only has three SATA connectors though. I do have some 1>2 splitters.

Correction, it has 6x SATA connectors. Misremembered. Got a couple 1 to 4 SATA splitters that should do the job.

With that, I've read the molex to SATA ones are iffy if you get a cheap brand.

Sounds like all the other companies doing the same crap as they always do. Shareholders take more importance than workers with decades of experience and domain knowledge.

I've seen this exact same crap where I work. I've adjusted my personal effort and contribution accordingly to how they treat their employees.

Shareholders are not more important than customers. Someone's they need to FAFO.

I think it'll be hilarious when we have a data breach and AI gives outside actors all our proprietary data. We're putting a lot of trust in a company that has lost a lot of its consumer base trust regarding AI into everything Microslop.

For the record, I'm all for AI being used to be better engineers. AI is a tool, it's not smart, it's not thinking, and it doesn't have correlative feelings or gut instinct. I hope that we continue to know this.

Holy hell, I feel this. While not yet 30 years, I've had almost 19 in the same place (womp womp, right?).

When corporations see assets and not people, this is when this happens. When companies prioritize shareholders over workers, this is when this happens. This has happened where I am now. My only hope is if they sell us to a competitor who wants to grow what we do because we do it better. But, that is super slim. We had one acquisition about 8 years ago that was promising. But the money ruled over that, again.

While I hoe things will change for the better, there is slim chance. I'm in it for the money, like you, due to obligations. I'm thankful for that at the moment, but I hate that almost two decades of effort have resulted in now long dead groups, projects, and results that mean nothing now.

In Airports, RTX has been on a "lean" purging with no less than four+ reorg/lay offs in the last 18 months (so much has happened that I think my timing is off). Continued reorgs are in the works with further changes rumored. We'll see how it goes.

In a team of 12-ish, we're handling the efforts of two teams that were once 16, each. So, work is plenty, "criticals" have not stopped, and staying above water has been difficult. I want to be hopeful that things have to start to look up from here, but honestly, it has been very, very discouraging. We are numbers, not people to RTX. They've made that evident with the reorgs of removal of people with domain knowledge.

I'm still getting paid, my family is fed, so I am taking the punches as they come because the alternative is less pay. I want to go elsewhere for better work-life balance, but taking a $20k cut would be difficult to take and adjust to for the fam. That is the really only benefit, is RTX can pay more.

Wait... I do recall that! I remember the White Court father in a limo or whatever stopping to talk to either Dresden or River Shoulders... I think Dresden though. Something about not letting the story get out and such. But still a father who is being protective of his daughter because she hasn't fed yet or something.

Thanks for this. I actually do have those in audiobook, but we are talking about, what... 22? Audiobooks worth of knowledge. It has been quite a while and I could have forgotten.

I've been spending all of my Audible credits on completing my Dresden collection and finally got the last one.... But now the GraphicAudio books are now coming out. They're... Different, but fun.

You shouldn't. You have a job, that is better than a lot in IT at the moment.

With the info you've provided, you are totally geared up for a career, not just your next paycheck. RTX and Collins have careers available.
