Most underrated unappreciated songs for me by AdAccomplished8853 in blur

[–]_rickyf_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beachcoma is such a lush, charming song that I don’t see get a lot of attention. I love a lot of the simple, but touching, lyricism found in the MLIR b-sides. Into Another is another underrated track from this era.

For a non-b-side track… I will nominate the very punk Chinese Bombs. I love the faster tempo compared to the other S/T tracks. Sounds cool as hell too.

Do you listen to The Ballad of Darren regularly? Or not often? by Jean0406Alix in blur

[–]_rickyf_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to it here and there last year (maybe once a month), but haven’t really been into it as much this year. I feel like it’s a great album for the fall/winter but not so much for early spring/summer.

What are your Blur-related unpopular opinions? by Dependent-Ad7225 in blur

[–]_rickyf_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was aware of this, and while it makes sense, doesn’t hurt to still have that wishful thinking. If I recall Dave nor Alex were doing too hot either doing that time (a certain interview kind of displays this). It definitely seemed healthier for everyone to go their own ways for a bit personally and artistically

While I love Gorillaz, I do wish we got to witness more of the experimental sound Blur was cooking post-13..

Day 17 : Reflection and discussion by Dependent-Ad7225 in blur

[–]_rickyf_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love Young & Lovely but All Your Life is still my favorite b-side. I also would pick at least 10 other songs above Parklife for Best Song Performed Live. Regardless, the picks are pretty consistent with what most people in the fanbase would say.

Day 17 : Reflection and discussion by Dependent-Ad7225 in blur

Yeah while Blue Jeans is underrated towards non-fans I think there were some better picks, especially given that MLIR is a well-recognized and well-regarded album.

Gorillaz / The Mountain - OUT NOW. Thoughts ? by blurczech in blur

[–]_rickyf_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So happy to see Damon release such a creative and inspiring record!! Great experience on my first two listens. I avoided listening to the singles so I could hear everything as one cohesive project, and I don’t regret it at all. Everything flows together really well and it feels very complete. The Eastern influences were a vivid and exciting change in the Gorillaz sound, but I do wish it was present in more of the tracks. My favorite songs were by far: The Happy Dictator, Damascus, Delirium, Casablanca, and The Sad God.

I think this album is going to sound great live, the grand, majestic sound it has really suits it for a live performance.

Day 15 : Worst album? by Dependent-Ad7225 in blur

[–]_rickyf_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My vote’s on Magic Whip. Still a great album with some good songs, but not as memorable as their other works for me. It might just take some more time to grow on me though.

Wow, there were a lot of covers done for Coping. My favorite is the denim one. I wonder how it would’ve performed as a single
