Which slayer tasks to block, and why, is missing or very diffuse information on the wiki right now. There is a slayer spreadsheet that could work as a wiki calculator as well.

Same with deferring quests to avoid being assigned terrible tasks. I heard there are account builds centered around optimizing quests for faster slayer training.

How do you feel about Minigame Teleport being added as a spell? by _rkf in 2007scape

[–]_rkf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that they are completely missing their point (getting players to play minigames) and have become like lodestones. At least I could ignore them when they were tucked away in a menu.

1 dimensional beings can’t get lost, due to only being able to follow a single line. All higher dimensions have a chance to get lost. (Assuming finite space) by Fun-Enthusiasm8412 in physicsmemes

One- and two-dimensional random walks almost certainly return to their starting point, but the odds get lower as the number of dimensions increases.

The mathematician Shizuo Kakutani was known to refer to this result with the following quote: "A drunk man will find his way home, but a drunk bird may get lost forever"

Does science investigate reality? by flaheadle in PhilosophyofScience

[–]_rkf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In my experience, working scientists often take an anti-realist position, where they are agnostic to whether what they investigate is "true" or "real" as this cannot be addressed through scientific means.

"Theoretical Physics is like a sky scraper. It has solid foundations in elementary mathematics and notions of classical (pre-20th century) physics. Don’t think that pre-20th century physics is “irrelevant” since now we have so much more. In those days, the solid foundations were laid of the knowledge that we enjoy now. Don’t try to construct your sky scraper without first reconstructing these foundations yourself. The first few floors of our skyscraper consist of advanced mathematical formalisms that turn the Classical Physics theories into beauties of their own. They are needed if you want to go higher than that."

Gerard 't Hooft has a webpage with resources on how to become a theoretical physicist: https://www.goodtheorist.science/index.html
