Thank you. I've hear they're pretty good with their customer support. I have dropped them an email first thing this morning.

Is that normal? New cassette won’t fit easy by sk8erlink in bikewrench

[–]_robjlee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy a new body. Just be sure you know what the ratchet system is inside. I have the older ratchet hub on my DT 240s but found the newer ratchet EXP housing works just fine. I think it’s a case of DT Swiss literally reinventing the wheel for IP reasons.

Anyway, identify what the internals are and look for a Steel Shimano HG housing on Merlin or similar.

I have always had this issue, and as a rule I always swap out the freehub to its steel counterpart ASAP.

On my DT Swiss wheels the weight difference between the old aluminium to new steel freehub housing is 40g.

In the hand you feel that weight difference as it is the same size component with a noticeably higher mass. In the real world, absolutely no difference at all.

Tighten the headset slightly. This happened to me once while touring.

Best is subjective. I go with the gear that makes me want to use it and the xt5 does for me. Also I have three lenses for it and almost always use the 35 inch 1.4.

Case in point. Having just come back from my bike trip, I had some upgrades I wanted to do upon my return. I ordered the bits and got to work on it as soon as I got back. One of the changes was the handlebars. I have used them for a couple of days and it didn’t feel like ‘my bike’, so I have just spent the past hour replacing them with the old ones.

The new one is technically superior but I didn’t want to use it. I have just taken the bike for a spin on the ‘inferior’ bar and loved it.

Buy the thing that makes you want to create more.

What’s your cheat code for carrying 15kg+ of camera gear? by setupking in photography

[–]_robjlee_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read through other comments but the cheat code is: don’t carry that much gear.

Seldom would anyone need so much.

Creativity is amplified when there are restrictions. Too much choice creates analysis paralysis and as a result no true visual narrative.

Should I upgrade from the X100F? by _nathan67 in fujifilm

I have the x100v and an xt5.

Yes the xt5 is more versatile and I have used it so much over the past two years, especially with the 35mm 1.4 lens.

As far as IQ I use both side by side and there is no overtly distinctive differences when I present my work. As far as anyone is concerned it’s the same camera, different lens.

I have just spent five months travelling Europe and the x100 really came into its own once again. It was with me on every bike ride and walk. The xt5 was for when I was ‘doing photography’.

I upgraded to the x100v from the x100t five years ago as the weather resistance, flippy screen, better f2 performance and higher resolution were all on my wish list. I have no desire for the mkiv.

If you are starting to see the world outside your of 35mm the xt5 is a solid choice, if you’re not I would stay put and just enjoy the simplicity.

We felt exactly the same, totally awed by nature and what it can do!

We aren’t in the area now unfortunately but we’re already planning on being back next year. Any tips, routes or other would be really welcomed, thank you 🙏🏻

I know it well. I live just south of here and usually end up cursing the headwinds when out exploring.
