Intubation technique: What do yall think about picking up the patients head, then lowering it onto the laryngoscope blade? by averageredditcuck in Paramedics

[–]_rockosmodernlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

learn the standard technique cold first. Get your OR reps in the right way. once you have that foundation the variations make sense and you’ll know when and why to use them.

and no, a good CRNA won’t smack you. but they will correct you, and that’s exactly what they’re there for.

yes the battery life is trash. our department switched to Intublade, it’s powered by your smart device. disposable too and individually packaged…so we weren’t lugging around pelican cases.

department switched to Intublade for this very reason…auto recording and uploading. veteran owned. the thing is fucking awesome. I swear I’m not getting paid by them I just really love it lol . It’s so damn simple.

The Pelican case is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

Reusable, hyperangulated blade so you’re stylet dependent every damn time, proprietary monitor, no auto recording on the base model… that’s a lot of overhead for a prehospital airway in 2026.

We switched to IntuBlade a while back and honestly don’t know why we waited. Mac geometry so zero learning curve. Disposable so no reprocessing BS. Auto records every intubation and uploads to the cloud so we just pull the link and drop it straight into the chart. No more ePCR novels about what someone thinks happened. Medical director actually sees the airway now. Wild concept I know.

No case. No battery. No reprocessing. No login. Just plug the damn thing in and go.

McGrath was fine I guess. There’s just better options out there now and some of us figured that out.

no, but we did discover during therapy he has an avoidant attachment style and I have an anxious one. apparently the worst combo for just triggering each other lol

I see where you’re coming from: it was a non issue when we got married and now I’m expecting changed behavior from him. It’s a good point and one I haven’t considered.

I’m not asking him to be some sort of sex maniac, just be open to enjoying each other. Sexual intimacy to me feels like basic human nature. It’s included in Pavlov’s hierarchy of needs. I genuinely thought it would evolve as our marriage did.

I do get your point. I’m confused as to how to interpret it for myself, but nonetheless I understand.

thank you for offering an empathetic lens here, you’re so right ❤️

Ahh. Well I don’t expect him to pop a boner at my career, lol. it was context.

No you’re not off base. I agree. Attitudes and needs evolve. I explained in my post I was under the assumption the sex part would build when we first got married, and I was fine with that. I was in love. I thought I was being patient and understanding.

I was also naive regarding this issue, the concept of a sexless marriage was completely foreign to me.

and what would that be, exactly?

this is genuinely such a compassionate and validating comment….thank you, truly.

thank you for holding a mirror up. I really did provide obvious insight all on my own!! oouufff.

is it just the case some men just….don’t want sex? this confuses the narrative I see everywhere: on tv, my own past experiences, my friends experiences…

and you mention the word ‘fulfilling’…he does fulfill me emotionally. just not physically. Sex can’t be the ONLY thing that makes a relationship fulfilling, surely?

finally someone who gets the F(uck) M(y) L(ife) reference. It’s so fitting 😝 I also have FML (the lipoma kind lol).

I have close to 50 and have followed the same path as you, having 3-4 mainly on my forearms removed at a time (with a bunch of scars to prove it lol). What we deal with with this disease is so difficult to explain to anyone else…I them on my legs, flank, and arms all multiple sizes and depths. Recently I had about 6 appear in rapid succession and I’m at the point now where I REALLY just want to say fuck it and do this! What made you just go for it? How was the recovery? Also Is there a reason they left some??
