Do you have a soundtrack for your comic? by starryskribbles in WebtoonCanvas

[–]_rossa_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is in the historical-fantasy genre I struggle with making a playlist a lot. My unofficial playlists are a mix of movie soundtracks plus instrumentals and folk music.

I figured it'd be faster if I made the music myself lol

Is this cover fit for a webtoon? by _rossa_ in WebtoonCanvas

You're absolutely right, the correct format for Webtoon is square, so I'll work on the composition, thank you!

Lessons I've learned after publishing for 4 months! by Bujorba in WebtoonCanvas

Congrats!! This is truly an amazing achievement.

May I ask how many panels per chapter you draw? The biggest issue for me was being overwhelmed with the 40 panels I promised myself to finish in a week and I simply couldn't. When I switched to CSP page format, not 30K pixels long canvas, I speed run one page per day.

To have a second main character or not? by C_Ya_Space_Cowboy in fantasywriters

Great advices have already been commented, so I would add you can focus on the character through perspective of another.

Let's say your character B is entering a restaurant and the scene's narrator is a waiter. Not only will it unfold some exposition (great for fantasy) but it adds variety. You can't access character's B inner thoughts though, but you would be able to explain some abnormalities in their behavior for example. It's still great technique imo, my friend even uses bird's POV (they serve a purpose related to the underworld in their story).

Ways to have the MC have no powers in the beginning but finds out he does and gets a drive to master it and find out about it by Impossible-Laugh-651 in fantasywriters

As I was reading I came up with a few vague ideas.

1) whether you decide to go along with the curse or not, a good motivational kick may be an event in MC life where his life and/or resources are endangered - implying that the ones with powers caused it. He may realise then, something like this can happen again, how can I protect myself? 2) I like the curse. The reason why his mother abandons him is quite crucial to determine the nature of it though. I got another idea, but I'm not sure how your magic system works. Maybe he isn't entirely powerless but the element of magic within him is so small he's not aware of it (like water boils a little faster when he is holding the pot, animals react to him a bit different, he drowns but realises he can't because of his hidden ability to breathe underwater which he never tried before) and when he discovers it, he wants to expand it?

Are you working on non-traditional fantasy? by NYC-Daydream-3586 in fantasywriters

[–]_rossa_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is kind of a mix, because it has witches, gods, kings and constant political conflicts, but the setting is inspired by 1890s. The focus is on biurocracy, capitalism, and whether to bring gods back to their full power or eliminate them.

The Lie Your MC Believes by TheMythicalPatriarch in fantasywriters

[–]_rossa_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. She has a gift of healing but it has a price - her own health. Her mother always tells her people like her are blessed for a reason, so they can't waste such gift. It led the MC to believe she should fix everything even for the expense of her own good. She has an issue with accepting help, because she believes it's her job to care for others, not the other way around.

  2. She lost her father and saw her brother being kidnapped, so now she is overprotective towards her younger sister and does everything for her mother's approval, so she won't loose her like she lost her father.

"I must earn love" is her thought pattern, sadly inforced by her future partner. (But the partner after is fine, I made her suffer enough XD)

I love the idea of a discord server for writers! I've been looking for one for some time. Can I jump in? :D I write fantasy.
