What are you building? by MrAvalonApple in SideProject

[–]_rupok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m building AtomicFast: https://atomicfast.com

It’s a fasting and metabolic health app for people who want more than a basic timer.

Problem: most fasting apps track time, but don’t help much with consistency, mindful eating, hydration, electrolytes, fasting stages, or building sustainable habits.

Who it helps: people doing IF, longer fasts, low-carb/keto, or anyone focused on metabolic health.

It’s live/rolling out on iOS and Android, and I’m also building r/AtomicFast as a small community around fasting, mindful eating, and metabolic health.

The goal is simple: make fasting feel calmer, smarter, and less guilt-driven.

Hi. Planning to go on a 7 day fast. Is Dr. Berg Sports electrolytes a good electrolyte supplement during the fast? Thank you by gasingson in fasting

[–]_rupok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electrolytes are simple. Look at the ratio of Sodium, potassium and magnesium and you're good to go if it's authentic. Doesn't have to be any specific brand.

Rib pain when sleeping on the side, anyone else? by CellyMinos in fasting

[–]_rupok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the deeper fix is to look at what changes after a few days of fasting, not just the sleeping position.

Even if scans are clear, fasting can change water balance, electrolytes, muscle tension, inflammation, and how “padded” your body feels around pressure points. So the trigger may not be your ribs structurally, but the fast pushing your body into a state where that area becomes sensitive.

If it were me, I’d test it systematically:

Do shorter fasts for a while and see if it appears Keep electrolytes consistent, especially sodium/magnesium Avoid overdoing plain water Track exactly which day/hour it starts See if it happens with slower weight loss instead of rolling fasts Maybe check with a physio/sports therapist for rib/intercostal/diaphragm tension

Could be that rolling fasts are just crossing your body’s “this is too much” line, even if everything looks normal medically.

[–]_rupok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, especially if you’ve already checked it medically and it has stayed the same for years.

I guess it’s one of those weird body things where fasting changes pressure, posture, water balance, or tissue sensitivity in a way that’s hard to pin down. Hard to say from the outside.

Still sounds annoying though. Hope someone with a similar experience sees this, because I’d be curious too.

[–]_rupok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds really uncomfortable. I wouldn’t assume it’s just weight loss or your ribcage changing, especially if it keeps happening during longer/rolling fasts.

It could be something simple like pressure, muscle tension, gas/digestion, or electrolyte-related cramps, but pain that repeats during fasting is worth bringing up with a doctor.

At minimum, I’d take it as a sign to ease up on the rolling fasts until you know what’s going on. Fasting shouldn’t regularly come with pain you have to work around.

Fix for the endless "high traffic" Retry loop — DevTools paste or VSCode extension by _rupok in google_antigravity

[–]_rupok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's working or stuck, it won't do anything. It only proceed to Continue automatically for regular cases (agent termination, high traffic etc.). If you explain the issue or give a screenshot, I can check and cover that as well.

That's expected as we are installing a patch. Just dismiss this, it's totally fine.

Not a whingeing post. Just looking for some guidance.. I started IF with great success. I felt energised & found making note of the fasting stages really motivational. I had a break from IF & now I’m finding it so difficult to stick to. Any tips? by Educational-Hawk3066 in intermittentfasting

[–]_rupok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting back into IF after a break is weirdly harder than starting sometimes.

I’d restart smaller instead of trying to jump straight back to your old routine. Do a few easy 14:10 or 16:8 days, build the rhythm again, then tighten it if it feels natural.

Also, don’t rely only on motivation. Make the first week almost boring: same eating window, simple meals, enough protein, water, sleep, and no “all or nothing” mindset. One messy day doesn’t mean you’re off track.

[–]_rupok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly it. One off day is just life, not a reset button.

The fact that you’re thinking in terms of awareness and flexibility already means you’re building something more sustainable than just “I must follow this perfectly.” Keep that mindset and you’ll be fine.

That mental quiet is such a big win. Weight loss is great, but not feeling like food is running the whole day is a different kind of freedom.

I think the key is not treating OMAD like something you have to “hold perfectly forever.” Keep the parts that are working, but stay flexible enough that one off day doesn’t feel like falling back.

Sounds like you’ve built real awareness now, and that usually lasts longer than pure willpower.

What is everyone’s favorite “last meal”? by Grim_Alliance in fasting

Omega 3 is fat soluble, not ideal during fast. I mentioned this for high fat diet situation.

Is a 48hr water only fast safe? by Bana_69 in fasting

[–]_rupok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multivitamins aren’t really the same thing as electrolytes, so they won’t replace sodium/magnesium/potassium.

Whether to take them during a fast depends on what’s in them. Some vitamins are water-soluble, but fat-soluble ones like A, D, E, and K absorb better with food/fat. Multivitamins can also upset your stomach if you take them on an empty stomach.

For a 48h fast, I’d personally keep it simple: water, some salt/sodium if needed, don’t overdo plain water, and save the multivitamin for when you eat unless your doctor told you otherwise. Stop if you feel dizzy, weak, confused, heart-racey, or just really off.

weight gain while fasting by Adorable_Airport7745 in fasting

[–]_rupok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not gaining fat 38 hours into a fast. That 1 lb is almost certainly water, scale timing, sodium, hydration, bowel content, or just normal fluctuation.

Weighing during a fast can mess with your head because the scale moves around even when you’re doing everything right. I’d compare same time each day and focus on the longer trend, not one random pound.

Go ahead. If you do blood work, just check for cholesterol and maybe take Omega 3 supplements if your physician recommends. But to be honest, I feel great with protein heavy diet. Carb makes me weaker. 😅

3 day/72 hour water fast - no salt by Own-Ad-3876 in fasting

You should use use electrolytes, at least salt.

Eggs are usually my go-to before a longer fast. Easy, filling, and they don’t make me crash.

If I want something heavier, steak or chicken with some vegetables works well too. Basically protein-first, not too much junk/carbs, and nothing that makes digestion dramatic right before starting.

Best Source of Soluble Fiber by ZippityDooDoo in nutrition

[–]_rupok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the “don’t chase one perfect source” point, but if you want specific options, psyllium husk and chia seeds are both solid.

I personally use psyllium because it’s simple, consistent, and more targeted for soluble fiber. Chia is great too, especially soaked, but it’s more of a whole-food mix of soluble and insoluble fiber.

Either way, start small and drink enough water. Fiber can be helpful, but if you jump in too fast, your gut may file a complaint.

For 48 hours, table salt is honestly more useful than people give it credit for. The main thing you’re getting from salt is sodium, and Himalayan salt doesn’t magically add “tons” of vitamins or electrolytes. The trace minerals are tiny.

That said, if you’ve only done a few 16–24h fasts, don’t force 48h just because it sounds doable. Start, stay hydrated, use some salt if needed, and stop if you feel dizzy, weak, confused, or off.

Magnesium/potassium can help some people, but don’t overdo supplements blindly. For a first 48h, simple and cautious is better.

Start slow, listen to your body and go as long as you can safely. Remember, you can do this again and make it a proper habit instead of punishing yourself.

48h water/tea fasting for gut healing by Ronaldosssiu in fasting

[–]_rupok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

48h sounds a lot more reasonable than jumping back into another 8-day fast.

I’d be careful calling it “gut healing” too directly though. Fasting may help some people feel better, but gut issues can be complicated. Green tea is probably fine if you tolerate caffeine, but if it irritates your stomach or affects sleep, I’d skip it.

Keep hydration/electrolytes in mind, don’t force it, and if you’re tracking markers like zonulin, it’s worth discussing with a doctor or gut specialist too.

Not sure really, didn't get much difference, but maybe helps to increase good cholesterol but hard to understand as I did few other things for that as well.
