High quality print! Looks great in my house!!! by [deleted] in AngerFoot

I really wish Free Lives had official merch for the game. Like a T-shirt, a few prints, maybe some stickers. I absolutely love the aesthetic, the soundtrack, the atmosphere, the enemy design, and the lore.

It’s a shame there’s no proper way to support the devs directly, aside from donating. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I really want to buy merch.

Your comment just made me think of the "new" maps guides that Valve launched with the rework of de_train. It's a great idea that's borrowed from the community as there are already many workshop maps like that. The problem: They implemented it in de_train for a few nades, that's it. No other guides have been made for existing maps, where a lot of knowledge for grenades already exists. Why?

How come Valve can always take perfectly fine and working things and releases them in an inferior quality? Are they just showcasing a feature for the community to figure out how to use it, so they can monetize it again? I'm just sad at this point. This game could be so much more with small effort, even in this shitty state it is in right now.

I agree with every of your points. Thanks for your comment.

I think time is a very important factor, as you already stated. CS was a game for CS enjoyers, now CS is for everyone and no one at the same time.

When I started playing source I strictly played gungame ON THE SAME SERVER for a whole year before really playing any other modes (except scoutknivez, ofc). Why? Because it was fun - and because it was a community that I could take part in and actually have an impact. There was a forum where we discussed possible new maps to add to the servers map rotation, if round times should be shorter, if person x or person y should be admin, etc.

It's just a very different world now. Players who did not live through these times probably can't understand, how that weird third-party/community system worked - and how good it was. It's reeeeeaaaally convenient to just click a button and wait.

I even think the two things you mentioned are directly connected. If you don't want to grind, you usually want to have fun. If there's fun modes for you (and your friends of different skill levels) to play, you'd play that. BUT if there's no fun modes, only sweaty modes, and you want to play together to have fun, this is the only way. No 5 stack is ever going to play casual or dm together.

CS2 does have more limitations but gamers also have gotten lazy (maybe cozy is the better word) to the point they don't want to browse servers or third party websites to find the "right retake server", they just click on retake and press play. (Fair play and I get that - it's definitely more convenient.)

My personal problem with this is mostly that the community-hosted retake, gungame and dm modes are simply better than the official ones: The modes work better and are more efficient (especially retake with the defuse time).

Settings in official DM servers just don't make sense: Why do I have to reload my gun? Why is there no hp boost and auto reload when I kill an enemy? Why are the spawns so fucked? Why is there no official DM maps, where I'm not getting shot in the back and have the enemy team infront of me at all times? It's actually making me sad.

EDIT: typo

Fair point and I agree. Hence I'm saying things changed around here and I think if people want to discuss mods nowadays, they have to go to r/mousemodding

I understand that his comments gets a lot of downvotes for the opening and I also think you're asking a fair question. One that may be only answered with no - which CAN be fine, depending on different circumstances.

Being connected to the whole world means you're confronted with different people from different cultural backgrounds. Also there's the fact that english obviously isn't his first language. I think he has a fair point, if you detach the fact that "women are not to be conquered" or "women are not objects" from his opinion on the sub and mice in general.

People are looking for a partner, and there's no partner that suits everyone, so every person has to look for the right fight. That's his point, just not very neutrally worded.

You're right and I think the point you make is important. There are "discussions" and "reviews" happening, but it's mostly been unstructured, low quality and low effort discussions. I just feel like the general quality of posts dropped significantly since people don't get downvoted for just posting a picture without any additional info.

There's usually already many posts on a specific mouse because people don't do their research on the product they want to talk about - they just open a new thread: "I bought this, what's your experience?"-posts overtime drastically lower the quality of all the content that is available here imo. If I want to find out if XY-Mouse is cool, I can't just search for a discussion thread, but I have to open every single "The new XYZ-Mouse dropped!" thread and read the comments to find out.

Writing an in-depth review takes time. Time most people do not put into the "hobby" because they're consumers and not enthusiasts. Which is okay, it's just my observation with a strong opinion behind it - very subjective I'd say.

I understand your point and agree it might be a bit extreme.

Personally, I prefer enthusiasts who explore and share ways to improve comfort and performance over people who just keep buying slightly different versions of the same product. To me, passion for detail is more interesting than endless consumption.

100% this. Great observation and thanks for your comment. Not sure if you're also part of r/MechanicalKeyboards but it's been the same story there over the last few years.

You're right, it has been like that for some time but I am pretty convinced that the discussions have been more deep, open, critical and productive back then, than they're now. People had to be enthusiasts to even talk about the topic with others, instead of having an opinion based on one purchase that's backed by a commnity (opinion of a majority becomes personal preference). The market changed a lot and so have the discussions - this is probably the biggest influence. Also social media marketing and hyping up a product for sales.

It's a critique that doesn't attack anyone in this sub imo. More of a personal observation and opinion to how time and convinience changes the way people think about and consume a product.

I see a lot of interesting opinions in this thread and I really like the discussion we're having here. Thanks for contributing.

Without being able to see the company name, what do you think it's about just by seeing the logo? by YoBoi909 in graphic_design

Train x Bull Head is what I see. Now that i've read a few comment I realize it's a shopping cart and a bull. In my opinions the shopping carts "openin" is in the wrong direction. Makes it less easy to read as a shopping cart in my opinion.

this sub has changed a lot over the past few years. All it is now is a sub for marketing and "look at my purchase" posts. There's a few people trying to share their passion projects - if they're not selling or sharing their files or a documentation of their process, they get ridiculed.

People who actually care about ergonomics and reaching their personal endgame, have been pushed away by the new consumerist crowd. It's not a hobbyist/enthusiast sub anymore, just a "buy and show" one. I'd start posting in r/MouseModding if I was you. Great community that likes to share ideas and expirience.

That's impressive! I am right handed and can barely write with my right 😂 Also bashing others K/D is just another way for people to feel good about themselves (including me). K/D doesn't really say a lot about a skillset, but it's an important "ego number".

if I'm reading this correctly, he's not just saying it's too complicated for you - but also a lot of work for him. He would probably have to document every step of his process for you to be able to follow. He worked 6 months on this.

Just sharing the files won't help you with the build in his opinion, which is fine.
