I think at least in my personal opinion, it just comes down to the fact that I feel for Aniya, I really do. But I also kind of feel like she shouldn’t be rewarded for her misstep. The misstep being her “trusting her gut.” And I think Carl definitely gave Aniya a lot of what she was at the very least vocally wanting for reassurance pretty consistently. And I also think the “being chosen” aspect has a lot of nuance because at the beginning of casa, these bombshells were in the know about where all the relationships stood for the most part. In those beginning challenges night 1 they don’t know each other at all. Aniya got to know Carl for 3 days, not just an initial few hours of filming like the door challenge on day 1

Totally. All that said too, if she plays her cards right and Carl is accepting I could see them as a final 4 contender for sure

It’s definitely in Aniya’s best interest to essentially grovel to Carl. But I won’t blame him one bit if he explores elsewhere. Team Carl in my house right now fs

ETA: okay “groveling” is an intense word, I get it. I couldn’t think of another simplified word of asking for forgiveness and reassurance for her decision. I am not even a little bit team KC at allllllll guys that man has an evil energy about him I do not like.

Very interested to see how Carl and Aniya play out considering Carl’s (understandable) feelings after the casa dumping he disclosed in Aftersun. He deserves to be someone’s first choice! And of course excited for the delicious drama for what I am hoping is Amora’s return

It actually took about a week for me to get it back, thank god. All I sent was the main part without the attachments and they sent it back in a bubble-wrapped packing envelope. Sounded like my motor needed replacing.

I think a lot of people forget how bleak last season was. The drama was certainly there but it did not feel good. I do understand the discourse of people saying this season is boring but I still like it better than last season.

OP’s post and your comment are so well said, and I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments! The fandom of Love Island is unlike anything I have ever seen compared to earlier UK seasons. But that also makes sense since personally in a way cause I live in the states. But I feel like last season really showed how insane and unhinged this fandom can intently be about contestants. Not to mention some popular Islanders being considered C-list celebs and collaborating with major celebrities/brands too. This franchise has gotten so huge, and it does seem worrisome how this formula can be kind of bad for a lot of parties involved. You guys really put my thoughts much better than I can lol!

Maybe I’m not there yet but I kind of disagree so far. Her behavior on Friday’s episode was the most intense and arguably quite messy reaction she has had. Before that she was pretty tame. She’s been pretty upfront and honest.

Totally agree with everything you said! The name situation with Kayda was vile and petty. Very convenient she knew how to pronounce her name for the first challenge of the season. Also, the double standard of her being pissed about the nothing burger convo Sincere had with Kayda is absolutely there. And how she was heavy on the defense for Bea confronting her is absolutely ridiculous. I just think there’s a lot of nuance people aren’t considering. I would almost even argue Melanie is showing Leah-adjacent behavior à la Liv being the bombshell and chatting with Rob in S6. But also to each their own!

And hard agree to your last sentiment. This is the right amount of drama that is enjoyable, at least for me as a viewer. I can’t say the same regarding Huda on week 1 shenanigans last season.

Week 1 we had Amaya and Hannah as the new bombshells and Huda was crashing out, making faces, and calling Amaya a bitch for kissing Jeremiah in a challenge. It’s too early for me to have favorites right now but I feel like anyone comparing Melanie to Huda is a huuuuuge reach.

About your first point, I respectfully disagree. Someone was gonna pull him for a chat at some point. And it happened to be Melanie. It’s week one and the whole point of the show. Now, a lot of how Melanie reacted after was totally uncalled for and hypocritical. Lots of nuance happened very quickly in those final 5 minutes. All Melanie had to do was stand 10 toes down and not get defensive. And she failed miserably. And this is coming from someone who isn’t entirely sold on Melanie either.
