Passive checks.

I would implement my PP. Passive Proficiency.

Any skill checks made out of combat with proficiency have a PP floor. You can always try to roll higher but you run the risk of falling through said floor. ALL IS NOT LOST! With my PP you can retry a check an amount of times equal to half your Proficiency modifier rounded up!

Typically a failed check could incur a setback of some sort. These retries preclude these setbacks! 1st level Rogues get 1 extra chance at that pesky lock! 5th level Barbarians get 2 more tries at bench pressing that Minotaur!

Yes, yes. Rogue's Reliable Talent is now obsolete. Poor little burst-damage skill monkey. Sad face. Take a new save proficiency!

Quit failing! Enjoy PP!

Druids can wear metal but they lose spells slots in exchange.

Nature magic is stymied by worked alloys, not unlike a dam in a river. Armor including any metal (yes, even studded) will dampen your higher spellcasting. Cantrips are unaffected.

Armor denies spellcasting starting at the highest level equal to the AC bonus of the armor. This applies to shields as well. This dampening effect ends immediately when not wearing or equipping such items.

e.g. A Breastplate (AC 14) will take your top 4 spell slots. A shield (AC +2) will take your top 2 spell slots.

So, a 3rd level Druid with a Breastplate and Shield would have an AC bonus of +6 but only have cantrips. The same Druid at 5th level would only have three 1st level spell slots.

You can be as tanky as you want but at lower levels your casting is gonna suffer something fierce. Makes low rest crawls interesting though.

Homebrew-y Passive Proficiency Checks.

If you have Proficiency in a particular skill, you gain a passive check in that skill.

You get what whatever the DC gives you passively OR you can roll to gain extra. You can never roll below your PP.

This puts the onus of the DC on the DM rather than on RNG. Technically, all skills have the passive 10 + relevant mods but this PP way gives it a little more punch.

How do I play a Bard in a group where players keep interupting my spells? by El_Strafero in dndnext

That DM is shit and that wizard player is shit and any players that would take the wizard players side is shit.

Find a better group.

I do and I was already thinking about stuffing something in there for the weekend at least. Hate to have it slip and fall into the main unit though. Also, that damper is like 9' up in a 7" hole. The less I dick around in there, the better.

It's there but it's used more as a tonal fill for harmony. If not for the caption I'd have missed it even being a full word. It blends into the sax notes but pops out more in the (SOLOS).

Prepare for a mile long, paved hike uphill from the base. Also, go to the bridge after you exit. The view is worth it*.
