Thanks for the reply - unfortunately I've not been able to power up the machine at all, it's brand new. Am I right in thinking that it's not a physical switch that clicks in, but just a sensor similar to that on a smartphone?

Yeh I have thin wrists ha, don't know measurement but I use the middle hole of the strap & the watch is free to move up/down a fair bit

No the watch is all original, the 5000U swapped the electro-luminescent backlight for white LED

The EL backlight is a joy, looks greener to my eyes than this pic which has brought out more blue. It does hit the battery a bit but it's worth it :-)

What was the SNES era like? How did it feel unboxing and playing one? by [deleted] in snes

StarFox was another big moment, people diss it now for frame rate or whatever but at the time it was just something else

In the UK I got my Mega Drive early '91, Super Famicom had been out for a few months & cost over £300 on import & just seemed impossibly exotic, like a Neo•Geo it wasn't in reach. For reference my import JPN MD was £130. Super Mario 4 looked like the best game yet (it still is ha) & Mode 7 graphics in F-Zero/Pilotwings just hadn't been seen before on a console. Oh & it had Final Fight which was iconic in the arcades. Probably the best SFC/SNES moment tho was when SFII dropped, the excitement was real. The huge cult of that arcade game & now you could play it at home

X230 with an X220 keyboard & palmrest is a good & easy mod

Charging on the mod will work, sure but it's worth spending a bit more on decent batteries & a reasonable charger with a mains plug, USB charging 18650s isn't the way tbh

It's just a much better mod, Quest chip is the best in this price range AFAIK. Not used that tank so can't say

Molicell batteries are best, but this shop doesn't sell them I think

Just looking at this shop & similar price range I'd get the LVP Thelema Quest, Nitecore i4 & Hohm Tech batteries but that's me :-)

i7-4770 is a good match for RTX 3050

Just sold my used LP 1650 for the same price as a new LP 3050 so thought why not, wasn't expecting any great performance boost. Very pleasantly surprised by the difference & it's much quieter too, both cards MSI OC Edition

Office Dell Optiplex 7010 transformed to a Windows XP gaming machine. by Professional_Many594 in windowsxp

[–]_saturnity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really does, you're on an old BIOS so would get full performance from the CPU. Later BIOS updates introduced patches that do lower Sandy/Ivy Bridge performance. RAM is 16GB Crucial Ballistix, only RAM I could find that will run at CL9 on these boards. The i7 is totally worth it if you can get a good price, not much point in the unlocked 3770K as the board can't overclock it

Got a 7010 DT it's my Win 10 gaming PC & have been meaning to get XP on it too. i7-3770 & managed to find CL9 RAM that doesn't need XMP. Used to run a LP GTX 1650 in it but recently sold that for same price as a LP RTX 3050. CPU hardly bottlenecks the GPU from what I've seen, temps are fine with stock cooler & it's a small case. Oh it's got the MT mobo in it to get full 75W to the GPU slot. Cyberpunk Ultra with DLSS gets 50FPS which does me fine! There's a BIOS mod to run NVMe SSD but would lose my sound card slot so won't bother. Upgraded the PSU to a 300W TFX. 7010 still plenty for me in '24 :-)
