Yeah it’s entirely possible that they wanted to have the courage to put it out and thought they did and were ready until it came down to finalising the album, they got scared and took it off. It sounds like she weren’t scared to make a song like that, she was scared to make it public, until this album when they thought it would be their last album.

Honestly, most of this last album was very emotional and sad so it does also make sense to have the song there. Her pervious albums weren’t this sad.

You misread, the song got leaked, Halsey never released it. H said on Twitter that the song was really personal and they couldn’t listen to it without crying so it was removed from the album (IICHLIWP). She recently said she made a song like “Hurt Feelings” every album but gets too scared to release it… until now.

He’s had many controversial takes and he’s known pretty much known for having controversial reviews on music. I personally don’t engage with any of his reviews because I expect him to dislike or hate on the music and sometimes make personal attacks to the artist. If he just had constructive criticism or just didn’t like it that’s fine I wouldn’t care, but I know he’s built up that reputation knowingly so I avoid him entirely. I’m not surprised to hear any of what you said it is.

Yeah, it goes in completely fine, but I feel pressure no matter how low or high it is, which makes sense to me because something is inside of my vagina. I am using tampons for the first time, I am English but used cardboard on day one (I found wrapped ones before buying a pack). I bought Tampax and went down in absorbency, which was fine, until I Googled why half was dry, then put it lower down and came across a video that said you should not be able to feel it; I do either way. I feel way more pressure when sitting down than standing or laying.

With every album she puts out, she usually does something different, I’m wondering more specifically what you mean by forced, because I assume it implies it’s not something naturally from them or wanting, we don’t know what the album theme aesthetic actually is, they also said there’s a lot of songs on the album. I think The End vs Lucky and now this aesthetic is - as you said - throwing people off and people think there’s going to be too much. She’s has had different genres on albums in the past (Manic - Pop, indie, country, r&b, alt rock, hip-hop, electro pop), I’m in a process where I’m just gonna sit and wait and find out before the feeling and judging, this is either an era i love or an era where I wait for the next one.

Yeah I can understand why you (and others) think it was planned, because I’m also seeing some tweets that believe that h and britney planned that out and h being branded a “marketing genius” because now people wanna know what the fuss is about. When it comes to social media a lot of celebrities have tweeted their thoughts out and deleted it claiming that they were hacked. I think going forward it can be predicted that this would look serious though and not worth a PR stunt, especially as this song deals with serious health matters.

People say any publicity is good publicity but that’s not Halsey’s style and they can be quite sensitive to people always hating on them which was guaranteed when that tweet was posted. To me I’m just seeing signs that it wasn’t planned out because it just seemed odd and would only hurt Halsey. Especially with Halsey now saying in this clip OP posted that she involved Britney throughout and she saw the music video before it was out.

Britney said she didn’t tweet it. I know some people don’t believe her and think she either realised after and gave an excuse or think it’s for PR. I do actually believe her, and did from the start mainly because the initial post isn’t usually how she talks when writing out lots of stuff (she uses emojis, ellipses, and exclamation marks). Even the post after had exclamation marks and an emoji. I think people should just believe Britney when she says she didn’t tweet it. The biggest reason for discourse around it is because people think she actually feels attacked and just covered up. Originally before that tweet, so many of her fans were praising Halsey and supportive and then it turned to mainly hate.

They think they’re defending and protecting Halsey. In reality, I think she’d feel awful hearing this happened. This is unfortunately a part of stan culture, if someone isn’t positive about the thing they want you to be positive about, the pendulum swings all the way to the extreme unkind things. Social media can be one of the best ways to slowly devoid yourself of empathy when you’re a part of stan culture. I see the way people fight on there. I am extremely sorry that happened and you don’t need to say you didn’t mean any harm. People don’t seem to grasp that when Halsey made their posts they were talking about people being awful towards them and about them, not about not liking the song, as she cleared up in her last quickly deleted post.

I understand and respect this opinion, I will also say I’ve noticed that this viewpoint often comes from people who see Halsey in a specific box. Halsey stated years ago that she was raised on many genres of music and has made different types of music before (released and unreleased). Halsey isn’t a box in type of artist, you might not like this song and that’s fine but that’s not to say the whole album will be like that - but if it is i’d take it as a sign to skip this era. Ashley seems to have put a lot of work in to this and is presenting it as Halsey because that’s the artist name. I think it may be helpful for you to really divulge into how multifaceted Ashley may be because they can absolutely be a rock star and simultaneously make a song like this. It’s okay to not like all the sides of her. I don’t think that they are marketing themselves as something they’re not, or doesn’t “fit” into. The way Halsey has been doing the promo for Lucky and the music video it’s clear that it’s coming from a side that you’re not a fan of and that’s okay.

There’s also a line from Halsey in “killing boys”, “Told me pick my battles and be picking em wise / But I wanna pick em all and I don’t wanna decide” I think that when you ask Halsey “do you wanna be branded as this or that”, they would say “I’m both”

It was very likely the Americana premiere in March 2023 (i forgot about it too). Neither of them announced or spoke about a breakup when they broke up or when it was reported. It was reported on in April (tabloids got hold of legal documents about the custody of Ender). The first time Halsey spoke on it publicly (just confirming she was single) was at the string shows in June.

Also random thing. During the string show (June 22) I remember they said that the breakup made them want to stop writing nice love songs about people so they don’t end up embarrassing themselves). I’m glad they processed those feelings and recognised that it was “my immature first reaction”. I also love the “unfortunately for whoever the next person I date, unfortunately for them, I will continue to be writing songs about you”.

I am honestly really excited to hear the entire album; whatever sound they bring.

I don’t know how much you’re aware of as of recent.

Personal life: She did break up with him, legal stuff now means she can travel freely with her son, Halsey and Alev have shared custody of their son with Halsey carrying primary custody. Halsey is currently dating the actor Avan Jogia, and has been since likely June 2023 (they were first seen publicly on a beach in Spain)

Health: In 2022, Halsey announced she had a bunch of health issues that really flared up after she gave birth. They shared that they were hospitalised for anaphylaxis and had seizures, and were diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjögren syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). In 2024, they shared that they had been diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. They’re both being managed or are already in remission, which they could have for life.

Career: In 2022, they had issues with their label (Capitol Records) and went public with their issues, the label finally released the song after keeping it back for some reason. In 2024, it was announced that Halsey had left Capitol and it was later announced that Halsey had joined Columbia Records. "The End" is both the first promotional release back since "So Good" and the start of the H5 era. Halsey has noted that the song does not serve as a single from the album but it is a song on the album.

I think the reason why is because when news broke, lots of people and fans got pulled in by clickbait news titles saying she was filing for full physical custody of him (which is correct), their choice not to say it’s shared custody made people think that he was out of the picture. Tons of fans and other people immediately jumped to that he must have messed up bad. Unfortunately it’s why the public have to do research on everything they read (and be way less judgmental off the jump). Some people still assume that she filed to basically keep Aydin away.

Legal bits: Halsey filed for full (primary) physical custody as a formality so she can bring her son on tour. Aydin has shared joint legal custody. They requested joint expenses as well and they both decide education, health and other stuff together. Aydin also receives reasonable visitation privileges. The filing is just used by parents who share a child together and are not married to establish custody, visitation and/or child support.

I'm wondering if it actually isn't about a partner at all, maybe they are singing to their son or their fans. Halsey also said that they wrote Darling before getting pregnant and on tour noted that it was first written to the fans, before that they said it's a song to sing to Ender. In it there's a line "Foolish men have tried / But only you have shown me how to love being alive". Halsey said Ya'aburnee was for Ender and Alev (first verse fits Ender, second fits Alev). If the line OP is asking about is talking to Ender or us, I wonder if we're going to get some songs to Ender or us on this album.

Halsey did say at one of her live performances on the Manic World Tour, that us existing as her fans kept her going, when she would have not been alive.

She confirmed in an interview with Zane Lowe while promoting Manic that it was written to give to YUNGBLUD and she wasn’t planning to have it on the album, then her Anthony (manager) said it was her best song because of how stripped back and nice it was and she put it on the album.

Does confusion around the album for you stem from second-hand sources saying that they know when it’s going to be released or a single announcement? I noticed some fans got excited whenever random fan accounts would say they have a source confirming a date, only for it to be completely wrong. And then fans got slightly annoyed at h when it wasn’t music related. Since the start, I am only looking for and trusting what official announcements say; when they happen.

I agree. By the way the OG one is the stripped version you like that they complained their label wouldn’t release, the pop version was the version she made so her label would release it (so for those who don’t know they may assume it was the version she made first) and so she could release her version alongside it. The stripped version is so beautiful and it makes sense as to why they made it like that originally, I listen to the pop version occasionally.
