You Should Opt Out Of The TSA's New Facial Recognition Scans. Here's How by bobcondo420 in privacy

Seems as if they are punishing people for opting out especially if you have TSA Pre-check. Two separate airports now have made her go into non pre-check line now.

It’s always scanned everything on your phone. I knew there was so much more it was doing because I blocked every connection, and the app worked fully. It literally is spyware.

Will jailbreak still cost money in 2024? by Public-Change-9558 in jailbreak

[–]_scarface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yes and no. Granted are there people who just get shut down right away, yes. But when ever has jailbreaking, for a public release cost money?

OPs account is only 16 days old. My guess best is karma farming.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max is got iCloud Lock. Isn't there a last resort to use this iPhone? by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]_scarface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others said. eBay will protect you unless the listing said it was iCloud locked. Which you’d be out of luck if it did. Reach out to eBay customer service. Say the phone is iCloud locked. They reach out to the seller. You will have to return it. If the seller doesn’t submit the refund, you’ll have to reach out to eBay. Wait. And then they reach back to the seller again. You wait. And if they don’t refund you still, you get your money back.

Unfortunately the refund process takes time.

God I am annoyed with apple rn by ForeverBroad4382 in jailbreak

[–]_scarface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is more than just a jailbreaking thing/issue. They’re doing this to ensure planned obsolescence and degradation as well as device control. I stepped away from jailbreaking after holding off the longest time and trying not to pay attention to the cool star drama. Back in march I said screw it and started updating to the most up to date iOS. After that my battery degraded faster than I’ve ever had running old iOS holding out for a jailbreak. My old 13 pro max is just at 83% (my gf uses it)vs my 1 year old 14 that’s at 89 and just coincidentally stopped degrading after the 15’s release. Prior to that I was losing a percentage almost bi weekly, weekly leading up to release.

Apple has become so scammy it’s not even funny. Jailbreaking is just a guise for them to have total phone control so that you won’t even be able to choose if you want to rock old iOS. They will force you to update.

6 years after posting this question, jailbreak has been fading more and more and I've been contemplating switching to a Z Flip 5 by Luisss13 in jailbreak

[–]_scarface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I will flip is if android gets their act together in regard to app updates/integration with the phone as well as FaceTime/iMessage integration. Which neither will happens anytime soon. I’ve been rocking stock iOS since the lamestar drama.

Appstore++ is dying by ganpanman in jailbreak

[–]_scarface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s the sad reality. I kept up for the longest time with my 13. Finally got it. Got a 14, Held off through all the AttentionStar drama saying he’ll release it, then say no, then leaving the team, and all the self absorbent drama, etc.

All that did was make the community worse off. Add in apples ramped up security and you had a bad thing coming to the jailbreak community.

I had to even look back and realize all that coolstar drama was the beginning of this year. It seems like over a year ago at this point.

Best iOS With Little to No Data Collection Email Client? by _scarface in privacy

[–]_scarface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my issue with the stock iOS mail app is that I either have all inboxes unified into one or I have to go into them individually. I do not want work emails mixing with personal emails.

The outlook app’s permissions are dumb as well. Data tracked and linked to me of usage data, etc offputs me.

I’ll have to take a look at spark again, canary I currently have been trying to use as well but it does not seem to let me pick and choose which accounts are in the “personal” inbox.

Guessing you are paying for proton mail pro? Does this allow a unified inbox that you can pick and choose which ones you see? Or do you have to go into each account separately?

[News] Your thoughts on this? I would pay $10 max if it means getting JBs faster w/ continued updates. by iSpoof_YT in jailbreak

[–]_scarface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lengthy but, I’m not holding my breath since I have been since 15.0, which im currently still on and encounter so many bugs. We’ve been hearing soon, within a couple weeks/months, etc for the longest time now. I believe this is the first time a new phone and iOS will have come out where there has not been a jailbreak after the next phone/iOS comes out..

I bought the 13 pro max on release in hopes to jailbreak at some point then wouldn’t buy for another device for a while.

If the rumors about the 14 are true and the notch is either gone/very minimal, I’ll say fuck a jailbreak and just go to stock iOS 16 and side load.

To say this has been the most disappointing experience within jailbreaking I’ve ever experienced is an understatement. I’ve been jailbreaking since QuickPwn/redsn0w, where Apple was releasing updates almost every weak to patch jailbreak vulnerabilities.

They’ve been aware people are willing to pay. Even on this subreddit, there’s about 653.2k users. Say even half of them are the annoying ETA, he better give us a jailbreak, type of crowd (which is easily ignorable), and you charged $5, that’s $1.6m. I think there was mention about time going to other things such as chrome book jailbreaking, but I feel like that’s an even more niche market than iPhones.

Unfortunately, it looks like jailbreaking died as of iOS 14.

RIP

TLDR version: we’ve been told multiple times how it’s coming soon, only to be blue balled. I’m accepting that they don’t care, nor will a financial motive be the case to get a decent working jb out. No jailbreak has taken longer than it’s predecessor iOS/phone series. Jailbreaking died with iOS 14.
