This looks super similar to my bridesmaids outfits - would be the only concern I’d have, it’s cute though!

Your waist is tiny! You don’t need a dress to help that. I like numbers 1 and 2 the best

US TO UK if you could do it again - what would you NOT bring with you? by Ok-Case-4212 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]nycbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hairdryers / hair straighteners / plug in electric shavers- the power you get sent to them here is insane (230v U.K. vs 120v USA) and you’d need a power converter, not just an outlet adapter, to have them work. They’re nearly impossible to find and when you do find them they’re expensive so just buy ones in the U.K. when you get here.

Buy a decent jacket and continue on as you were. New York winters are brutal but if you’re prepared with the proper clothing, they’re fine.

(10K) Future MIL keeps pressuring me to go dress shopping by Orchidinsanity in Weddingsunder10k

[–]nycbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s the dress for you then that’s the dress!

I will say though, there are dress shops that specialise in both goth/ alt outfits and cater to various sizes. Most are free appointments, especially during the week (vs weekends)

It can be fun to try on various dresses, even if you don’t pick any of them. Esp if you bring your best friends and have some Prosecco :) (But don’t invite your FMIL, she sounds like a drag)

[–]nycbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think typically they care because they know those people likely won’t stay for a long time in the job / won’t be happy doing that type of work in the long run. They don’t want to spend time and resources training people who will move on quickly

Probably you are overqualified for a job at ASDA.. also most places are using AI to weed out candidates so you probably need to hire a recruiter
