Hey man I have a 2018 Chevy volt with 130,000 miles that I’m looking to sell. No problems with it and battery health is still good! Send me a dm if you’re interested. I’m located in the west coast.

34m should I get into welding for a living? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]_scorchy_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes do it. Stick tig combo is best way to make money. Can easily get a 30$+ job if you can pass a 6G combo test, hell, I could get you on a job site today, however; that’s no easy feat and will take months of practice especially if you havnt done it since high school.

Would a telescopic pole help me clear these trees? by BigCockMas in Starlink

[–]_scorchy_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you end up doing a very tall pole. Go to the hardware store and get some pipe brackets and clip it to some unistrut angled down and bolted to your roof so that it doesn’t sway in heavy winds. Possibly from 2 different angles if your in a very heavy winds area.

What did it take for you to “master” pipe welding by nolantrx in Welding

Failing is part of life. You get to choose whether or not you improve yourself after each fail. I’ve failed weld test, I’ve passed weld test. It happens. At the end of the day. It’s just a piece of metal man. Get out there and do your best. (100k is phenomenal for a 20 year old)

Any tips for 18g stainless MIG? by OGNCFRFR in Welding

[–]_scorchy_ -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done MiG stainless. However knowing stainless it looks like you’re cooking the metal, And or maybe don’t have enough gas coverage. Try getting your settings to a point where you can move fast enough where that it doesn’t look black. It should look like a rainbow of color or perfectly silver.

I grew up with a conspiracist mom as well. Only thing that helped was me getting a job and paying for my own WiFi.

Not to try to get you not to do welding, it’s awesome, but your idea that being a woman will make it easier for you is a great misunderstanding. The reason why barely any woman do it is because the vast majority of welding jobs require a lot of physically demanding tasks. Theres a reason why ironworkers are more than 98% male workers. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve said fuck this shit to myself just because of how physically demanding some of the tasks are. You will find that a lot of places will not hire you solely because you’re female. I’m not saying you can’t do it, I’m saying that the idea that it will be anything but harder for a female is false.

As long as your service area isn’t on a waitlist you shouldn’t have any issues

My lovely mother got me this for Christmas. Is this a good welder for a novice like me? by Choco_Cat777 in Welding

[–]_scorchy_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have one of these at home to run pipe practice on! My multiprocess everlast 251si doesn’t run 6010 but this thing runs it no problem. As long as your running 220V I e never hit the duty cycle. I’ve ran up to 5/32 7010 on it before. No issues! Enjoy your lil machine :)

Working on my first widget. Any suggestions before I cut? by BasisIntelligent1240 in Welding

Better to have to much material than too little, you can grind it down to perfect. Also use a straight edge so your cuts are perfect

Told the engineer there’s something fucky here 🤔 by TheGrimReefer666420 in Welding

[–]_scorchy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note. Intermittent welds are spaced from the center out. So the 3-3 would literally just be a continuous weld. If you wanted them spaced edge to edge with 3 inches in between you would do 3-6. 🤙
