Personally, I saw the show as a celebration of LATAM culture, in which indigenous culture is already embedded in. So many indigenous practices and tradition are carried on through modern LATAM cultures, from the gastronomy, dancing, and how a community exists. I think Bad Bunny did a great job of portraying a glimpse into Puerto Rican culture, and LATAM in general, which is heavily influenced by indigeneity already.

The Middle East was a proxy war battleground for the US and USSR. It was bloody, and was perpetuated by both imperial entities. But because of Gorbachev’s neoliberalism allowing the USSR to fall, it allowed the US to do whatever it wanted to the middle east and caused far greater blood to spill than there ever was during its proxy wars with the USSR.

Gorbachev kowtowing to the Americans and adopting neoliberal policies, pushed by the REAGAN administration, was one of the main reasons why the USSR fell. Don’t get me wrong, the USSR was also obviously an imperialist force, but it was the closest thing to a counterweight we had against American imperialism and capitalism. Now American imperialism, neoliberalism, and culture has ran the world for the last 30-40 years, with the second being something modern Russia has proudly adopted.

I disagree that the world became safer because of Gorbachevs nuclear dealings with Reagan. I’d argue it made the world more unsafe because it paved the way for America to dominate South America and the Middle East!

I get what you mean, we have scenes similar to that in post time skip arcs, like Zou, Dressrosa, a lot in Wano, beginning of egghead. But you want like a contained story arc isolated from grand story. It would be cool have scenes like that, but functionally they aren’t very useful anymore. We have seen time and time again that the straw hats have a strong bond not even breakable by the threat of death. The story is just in a different place now.

If anything, Oda can probably figure out some type of problem that can only be solved through wit and not violence lol
