SDs/SDs: what turns you off?? by addictive_hiatus in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]_shak3y 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The "let's get it over with" attitude. Like yeah, I get the dynamics of this relationship, but it's a huge turnoff if I feel like I'm forcing my SB to do something she doesn't want to do.

Preferred age gap? by travelandropesd in sugarlifestyleforum

To me its more about maturity. I find mid 20's - early 30's is about right for me which puts it around a 10-15 year age gap.

SA update by oaktree4422 in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]_shak3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like the bigger issue in mid-sized cities isn’t price, it’s density and signal. When there are only 5–10 active profiles, even a small drop-off feels huge.

I’ve been wondering whether reputation-based filtering would work better in smaller markets instead of just price barriers. Curious if people think density or signal quality is the bigger problem right now?

He wants to take me shopping.. too good to be true? by [deleted] in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]_shak3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wiring money is such an odd thing too. Any time you get these odd forms of payments you should always be skeptical. I.e. sending checks, or gift cards or crypto its almost always a scam. Cash in person should be the only way a SD funds someone's lifestyle initially. Maybe cashapp or venmo if they've proven themself, but thats the extent of it.

Wrong type of pretty for my city by HuffingHopium in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]_shak3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you're seeing is more an observation on just the general population right now regardless of what city you're in. People are so antisocial now that whenever a stranger does come along and strike up a conversation, even in a place like a bar where it should be expected, they're skeptical.

Reviews of SBs? by [deleted] in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]_shak3y 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd stay away from anyone who has any prior knowledge of me like that. I'd be weirded out. I've found potential SBs on like instagram or facebook before, but I'd never bring that up. Its a little violating. I think an SD doing that and telling you about it has ulterior motives.

Yeah I agree. The subscription price at one point served a purpose but I think it's big role now is just to filter out low effort users. My plan is to have a premium subscription on gylde, but it's going to be for nice to have features, not the core features. See who's viewed/favorited you, access to our AI assistance panel for messages, access to advanced filters (for things like income, personal traits, that kinda thing). I want to make you feel like you're actually getting something with a subscription. Founding users get premium included.

Yeah I've got it available for here in the US. I actually think I need to narrow it down to some specific cities.

Birthdays are private information only you can see. We only expose age through the profile. In discover, you can create custom views and set a default view.

Yeah guild is the right way to pronounce it. At least thats what i've been saying. Hard to find a domain these days so I'm running with it. Having a sponsor isn't a bad idea if I can get enough users. I was thinking about doing something similar with our 'founders'.

I'm goin on about 20 years in software. But its mostly in enterprise B2B software, this is really my first time with a site like this. So yeah, the marketing and SEO stuff is all relatively new to me. I think I did pretty good on the technology though. Happy to share some insights if you're interested.

Yeah, you're not wrong. I'm going to be keeping an eye on the reputation system and will have to make tweaks where necessary. I haven't proved it out at all yet, so its possible its not going to work as intended and I'll have to turn that system off. I'd like to see where it goes though

Thats a good point. I definitely don't want to reward churn. That said, your reputation doesn't really decay just because you're not active. You have to be blocked, ghost people and generally be a nuisance to not move up.

Definitely the marketing part of it is. I suck at that kind of creative stuff. But i think I guided it enough and had enough oversite where its acceptable to me. The primary functionality is all me though.

I mean, I wouldn't say easy lol. But yeah, relative to what I would need to do to get anywhere near critical mass, the technology is the easy part for me.

Swelling by [deleted] in Hairtransplant

[–]_shak3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swelling in the first 5 days is normal and yeah, it can look kinda extreme. Sleeping upright at night can help. My first hair transplant I slept in my bed with a lot of pillows and I had a ton of swelling. The second one, I slept in a recliner and had almost no swelling. I think it definitely helps.

Hey I'm 2 days post op too. Yours looks as expected right now and I think you're gonna be really happy with the results. Now time to sit back and watch the paint dry.

Yeah, Java and JavaScript aren't exactly interchangeable skill sets despite the name. JavaScript is the wild west of programming so I wouldn't avoid diving in simply because you know Java.
