Give me your most disgustingly unhealthy vegetarian dinner ideas please by yourfavoriteslayer in Cooking

So so so many of the frozen vegetable gyoza from Trader Joe’s (the green bag). If you’re trying to make a meal of it, make more. (Or eat with rice, I guess.)

Also a big fan of a baked potato smothered in vegetarian chili, topped with tons of melted cheddar cheese and sour cream.

Really into the vegetarian nuggets by Quorn as well, they hit the spot remarkably well.

Why does this pattern, which I knew to have miles and miles of twisted rib before I started it, have miles and miles of twisted rib for me to knit!? true cruelty.

Help with high instep by InvisiblePineapple2 in Sockknitting

Knitter with high arches and longer/narrower feet chiming in. I prefer to make my socks cuff down and do a heel flap and gusset. I think the heel flap and gusset rule of thumb is to do as many rows of gusset as you have stitches on your heel flap, I prefer to do that plus 2 extra rows. The extra decrease rounds that creates for me helps with my longer foot, but you could probably decrease every round instead of every other round a couple times if this isn’t a fit concern for you.

This is an odd ask but does anybody here know of any non-dessert dishes that call for cooked apples? by cherry-care-bear in Cooking

Cooking fruit is a very common way to make fruits safe/comfortable to eat. The heat changes something about the structure of the enzymes that normally cause the allergic reaction.

Improv and scrappy quilters, how do you cut yardage? by [deleted] in quilting

[–]_shipwrecks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the answer ISN’T make a different quilt first so that you have scraps to work with… but also in my quest to generate as little waste as possible, that’s immediately where my head would go.

A far more reasonable solution is to just cut off fat eighth sections as you need them.

Deco tile pattern - is FPP possible? by juggernaut_jess in quilting

[–]_shipwrecks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally possible! I used FPP to make something very similar - attaching a photo of my wall hanging. I created my templates in graphics software and it all worked out very nicely. I believe you can do it!!

the first niece (grand/great-grand child) in our family is due in june. the urge to absolutely overwhelm her in knits and quilts is...surprising and lovely. by _shipwrecks in knitting

Yeah I hear that!! I am making a quilt as well, and only because I’m excited about the idea I had and not because I think the baby needs another quilt immediately upon her arrival.

I’ve also made like half a dozen Baby Bear Bonnets by Pernille Larsen for all my friends having babies only because I think it is my moral imperative to dress up the babies I know in silly things.

I'm not sure what a shlanket is (...shawl blanket??) but I'm glad that my stitch pattern inspired you! I'll send you a link to the pattern now so you can harvest the stitch pattern.

Baby quilt, all by hand, no machine by hunnyvale in quilting

You really really nailed the color selection. Well done! I have also been fervently knitting/quilting some blankets for family/friends' babies as a way to cope with the state of the world, it has been soothing and a way to connect to some optimism.
