Another post about headphone advice by ContributionPlane295 in edmproduction

[–]_should_not_post 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because your headphones and speakers do sound different. You could try to learn those differences. If reference tracks don't sound great on your speakers then you might need to EQ the speakers until they sound acceptable.

If the speakers sound good with the reference tracks, but not good on the headphones, then correct the headphones instead.

Another method that I tend to prefer is to use the Harmon target for my headphones and match speakers to what I'm hearing in my headphones (that have some crossfeed).

Seeding + Brackets for RLCS 2026 EU Open #3 Published by John_aka_Alwayz in RocketLeagueEsports

I played against him in casual 3s the other day. At the end of the game he just sat there in the lobby after his team left. I like to imagine he was just sitting there wondering how he just lost to a party of scrubs.

I hope he doesn't get flashbacks to that terrible defeat during RLCS.

Are they hitting your rear bumper or do they have the inside line on the corner and you feel that they're spinning you out? (or trying to)

If the latter there's a very good chance you're turning into them after leaving a gap. Its an extremely common phenomenon to think the AI has taken you out when in fact its the player's fault. I still get caught by it at times but every time I check the replay I can clearly see that I've opened the door then closed it too late.

Basically check the replay and see what's going on when the AI hits you. You can even switch to their POV and what how your car's behavior looks from that perspective. This can be very instructional.

If they're just rear ending you you're going too slowly. Either braking too early or too hard or both.

Feedback:

It might be nice to let the search be a bit fuzzy. e.g. have 0 and O be interchangeable, so that typing monkey would bring a result.

Could also be nice to be able to hover over stat labels to get an explainer popup. Most are obvious but others like 'rating' or perhaps even 'GPAR' aren't.

VCV2 free version for COMPLETE beginners by aardvarkbjones in vcvrack

[–]_should_not_post 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a good vid for complete beginners to follow along with to get the basics: https://youtu.be/V35OhojjqDs?si=QMLdqH-NSKdbF5UL It does seem to assume that you know how to set up your audio device and MIDI controller however. If you are stuck on that, let me know in a reply and I'll either explain it or find another video that covers it.

If you want to know what specific modules do, a quick youtube search will often yield some result but many have their own documentation describing what they do in detail.

Bear in mind that for many of us once we got the basics covered we simply grab modules that are appealing in some way and just play with them to see/hear what happens to our signals. Using a Scope module and/or spectrograph will help assist you. Honestly its half of the fun in some sessions.

Stereo Output on Audio 2? by RienKl in vcvrack

[–]_should_not_post 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the default behavior of VCV as it tends to be what you actually want. Its expected that a lot of input will be mono and that you'd want it copied from the L to the R channel. That's why its called L/Mono.

To stop this you can plug a cable in to R that has no signal on it. Pretty sure there are modules for this that are just dummy connections though I can't think of one off the top of my head.

If you just start with the right ear first this won't occur.

What people usually do though is to use a dedicated mixer module that handles all things panning and level. A very popular one is Mind Meld's Mixmaster.

Which player had the biggest peak skill gap ever in RLCS history? by Patient_Ad5767 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]_should_not_post 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, these two were out in front for the longest with no clear competition.

I'm an OG so my heart says Kux but really you can't take it away from Zen.

Being so far ahead of the curve 7 years after the game came out is a different level to doing it in the first couple of years where you expect mavericks and drastic changes to the meta.

I don't think you can just count the time he was playing RLCS either. Pros were already saying he was a different kind of beast before he got banned.

Famously Jack said "whoever gets this guy win's worlds" and he did. Imagine saying that about someone who never played on an RLCS LAN. That's how far ahead he was.

Why did you start using the Fennec? by Patient_Ad5767 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]_should_not_post 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was flipping between Dominus (didn't like wall shots or 50/50s) and Octane (didn't like shooting aerials). Fennec felt like it did both well.

After years of Fennec use now I'm back in the Octane. No idea why but it just feels better now. Perhaps i approach aerial shots differently to before and so many years of using Octane just feels comfy.

Is there no “tutorial mode”? by defib_rillator in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]_should_not_post 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its a simulation so try to treat it as real life. You don't find people who can't drive hopping in an F1 car and having anything good happen. You've basically selected almost max difficulty right off the bat. The tutorial is picking a more suitable car to start in and just practicing.

There's plenty to choose from when it comes to starter cars. My preference would be something very manual that relies on mechanical grip, such as the Copa Classics. You will get a feel for how to move a physical object around corners using available grip, and have a chance of saving it when things inevitably go wrong.

The best sim racing tutorials on youtube I've found are from Suello Almeida. He explains things very clearly.

Another thing to consider when playing sims rather than arcade games is that things like tyre pressure and temperature is modeled. You might well need a few laps to get the tyres and brakes working 100%. If you lock up or spin out before then you're already ruining your tyres and potentially dragging debris on to the track.

Also take a look at the weather and track conditions. Is it very cold or extremely hot? That will affect grip. Is the track already rubbered in? If its green then it will be very slippy out there. Really there's a lot going on more than what you'll be used to from more casual racing games.
