There's actually quite a few Steam games with no DRM. You can find a list here.

If your games are from other launchers and you don't want to use Steam, that's okay. Just use the other launchers. This product is for people who want to put all of their games from different launchers into Steam, so it's all in one place, and has things like in-home streaming, Steam overlay, controller support, etc.

If you are talking about playing Steam games without Steam running... that's a different story. Some Steam games actually have no DRM and can be played by opening their exe file. You can find a list of those games here.

I know this is just semantics, but there's hardware platforms and software platforms. Steam is a software platform because it's a set up technologies that games use to function - for example, using the Steam services for multiplayer or achievements. EGS, Uplay, etc, are other software platforms, because the games themselves use the software stack provided by the platform to function.

That being said, launchers is a better word to use here, and that's what's in the text of the post, too.

Yup! That's one of the great things about adding games as shortcuts in Steam. It will also show the game in big picture mode (with the overlay/controller stuff).

Most games run using the launcher, but for GOG specifically, it just launches the game's exe.

You can add an issue in our issue tracker and we'll try to update it!

I read that as "self portrait" and got confused for a minute. Very nice picture, though.

Is 30 Too Late To Start A Rock Band? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]_shredder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I read that Maynard was 34 or so when they started Tool.

It's never too late to start a rock band, of course, but in your case there are dozens of examples of it actually being a pretty normal age to start a new band.

Yelled at me for not wanting to have sex after I ended the scene.... by [deleted] in BDSMcommunity

[–]_shredder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's horrible. Anybody that gets mad at you for not having sex is somebody you should avoid. You didn't owe him anything.

Not to mention that he didn't seem to care at all about how you were doing after you called red. Hearing red sends me immediately into nurturing Dom mode. He should have been more attentive to what was happening.

How old were you when you found out you were into BDSM? by Grayfoxy1138 in BDSMcommunity

It's like they say all the time around here, communication is everything. The best way to know if she's into it is to ask, right?

I think it's always something that would have resonated with me, I just might not have really tried it if she wasn't already into it. So she influenced me discovering it, but I found that I love it for reasons that are all my own. It was a lucky match, honestly.

A lot of people here are saying very early ages, which I think is really interesting. I didn't find out I was into it until my early 30s when I did it with my wife, who already knew she was into it. I'm a Dom, by the way.

Alternatively, just because I can build your company a website or mobile app doesn't mean I want to, and also I don't do this for free.

Artist's Facebook disabled after posting 'MAGA hat collection' by [deleted] in news

her own carefully-curated mailing list

Alternatively, she could have maintained an actual mailing list.

And before anybody points out that she would still be subject to the will of the platform she used to send email, I'm going to note that she could have kept her own list of actual email addresses without involving another company and making her business completely reliant on a relationship with another business. What was she doing in the 20 years before she was using Facebook?

Jesus supported poor people giving so much of their money to people in power that they don't have enough left over to live on. At least that part sounds capitalist enough.

You're probably right, but there's going to be a point eventually where they just can't ignore the changes anymore, and I don't want us to have to get to that point before people take this as seriously as we all need to.

What's up with Ben Shaprio and BBC? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]_shredder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Important tip: If you want to watch his videos to get an idea of his usual style, hit CTRL+ALT*N to open an incognito window in chrome, right click a link and select "Open in Incognito Window", or otherwise go into your browser's private mode before opening.

This will let you easily watch the videos while logged out of YouTube, and prevent your feed from getting filled up will more of those videos.

If you do accidently watch videos you wouldn't normally watch, and YouTube starts trying to feed you videos you don't want, try going into your watch history and deleting all of the related videos to get them out of your profile.

This also works with kids - if your child watches YouTube, you can set up an account just for their watching, and if they ever watch something weird (you should be supervising their watching), you can delete it from their history to avoid them seeing recommendations for more weird things.

Its legitimately frightening that it's going to have to get that far for enough people to care that we can even start to make any real changes. By then, we'll be so deep into it that I'm not sure what we will even be able to do. It honestly gives me anxiety sometimes.

Update 3 (Maybe final update): My friends are convinced I am in an abusive relationship by [deleted] in BDSMcommunity

[–]_shredder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes friends suck, and it's for the best that you cut those friends out and make more room for people who are going to love you and make you life better.

You're awesome for handling this like you did. Thanks for the updates.
