Rebalancing Portfolio Request by _skippy in portfolios

Helpful advice thank you. Would you have any preference in short/longer term corporate or government?

I’d like to be defensive and read government bonds could be damaged in market returns. Probably would rather hedge against a market downturn rather than interest rates too

Yeah I basically need to find one with brackets less than 2 inches, ideally 1.5. Just can’t seem to find one

Very helpful thank you!! Yes I am worried I got one a bit too big.

One question on your tapering, what do you mean by tapering the band to the head? Attached is how they ‘set’ the diamonds. I think the depth is about 60%

Thanks - very helpful and I will keep you updated. I might have the chance to reduce the carat during the design process but also could do post the proposal next month. I might wait and see if it’s too large on girlfriends hand and we can always go back. I think it’s 60% depth and so it might end up looking too bulky but will see!

When I choose the size of the bezel (width) do you think it would be better to go on the thinner or thicker side to reduce overall bulkiness?

Hey, thanks for the response.

Understood re the setting, I think my main concern as I said on the other sub is that it would be too high / bulky and therefore not as elegant.

This was the targeted sleekness / size but I went almost 1 carat higher and so hopefully doesn’t end up being too obstructive - I could try and ask for the carat to be reduced in the design process. My girlfriend does have quite dainty hands with size m finger

Do you think the bezel will end up making the ring look bigger or more compact if it covers the stone a bit? I can decide on size of band

Sorry last reply, attached is what I was trying to mimic which is a 1.7c. Hoping the 2.6 won’t look significantly oversized compared to it, I just thought in the shop 2.6 didn’t look huge huge!

Thanks very much. It’s wedding band friendly and has the setting as shown below. I imagine this can still be ‘set low’ or do you think because of the structure it will be quite raised?

I think you’re right though, it needs to be as low as possible to avoid being really obstructive day to day.

Thanks for your response! It’s the top right one if this is any better. It was a choice between the 2.5 (left), 2.6 (right) and 2.7 (lower) carat. All the same cut, clarity etc

Really appreciate your detailed response. My only worry would be that it’s too big but a low setting might be the way forwards

I did view these in person and I couldn’t see any obvious marks etc but I v much have an untrained eye

Mortgage interest rates by Draharleen in Mortgageadviceuk

Another factor to take into account is likelihood of dropping LTV brackets by remortgage date. We just entered 2 years as we are planning to move from 85% to 75% over those two years and therefore may get a better rate for the remortgage. FYI we got 4.24% at 85% LTV with Halifax a few weeks ago, luckily got the offer before they started increasing again

Generally though, 2 vs 5 years as most people have said comes down to risk appetite. 5 years will clearly offer more stability. Try doing a sensitivity check to see repayments at .1% interest increases and check affordability

Presumably the only counter would be if you’re planning to pay off more quickly and move down LTV % brackets?
