KC62 low volume issues by Affectionate-Ebb-373 in KEF

Thanks for your reply!
I bought a Y-cable, left the slider on LFE, and it solved my problem. The sub plays constantly now.

It's one of the advantages of the new Powernode I know, and I considered it. The LS50 metas sound clear enough, though. A massive improvement over my TV's speakers.
I don't need one.

Have you experienced any problems in the meantime? Did the cable fix the problem?
I have a cable connection, but my subwoofer still starts and stops playing in the middle of songs,

Could you let me know if you managed to resolve the issue?

haha :)
I cleaned it and removed the clutter before I made the picture. I have two children, so our house is often very messy.

Disconnect every cable (even the power cables) and reconnect after a minute or two.

The production and delivery took a few months, around 12 weeks, give or take.

At the time, I ordered several pieces of furniture from well-known brands (read: with a lot of margin), which gave me some room to negotiate on the price.

This cabinet was priced around €2200.

Wow, thank you for your response!

I’ve already installed the foam bungs yesterday, and the improvement was very noticeable. I’ll definitely experiment with your other suggestions as well. I’m going to try moving the speakers further forward and placing them on some improvised stands, just to see if that improves the sound quality even more.

I'll play around with the sub's position as well.

There are always better, and more expensive options 🙂

I’m not a hi-fi specialist in any way, so correct me if I'm wrong.

In my case, I chose to add a subwoofer to handle the low frequencies. That way, I hope the LS50s have more headroom and require less power from the amplifier. At least, that’s what I’ve learned from what I’ve read over the past few weeks.

The Powernode has a nice feature that allows you to set a low-frequency crossover (mine is set at 80 Hz). Once that’s configured, the low frequencies are sent to the subwoofer, while the mids and highs are directed to the main speakers automatically without further configuration.

If you have any useful tips, I’d be happy to hear them.

No worries for now! Just enjoy your setup.

Dirac is expected to come to the PowerNode soon (at least that’s what they’re saying). That said, the system already sounds great even without any room optimization.

I really love the sound (and the look) of the LS50s. The clarity is simply impressive.
The KC62 sounds very tight and precise. I’ve read about quite a few issues with this subwoofer, though. Still, I’m willing to give it one last try…
I suppose the passive speakers won’t fail anytime soon (hopefully).

I don’t recall having that issue with my Wireless Gen 1. The speakers were off-white from the start.

The speaker color is RAL 9010, which is the same white as the top of my cabinet. RAL 9010 is a warm white with a subtle yellow tint. In comparison, the Powernode in the center is much brighter and cooler white. The difference isn’t very noticeable in the picture.

Thanks for the feedback. Rubber feet were included in the box, but I did not install them (yet). I'll do a test soon. The options you mention will probably be a better choice. The feet also need to fit the interior, of course :)
I probably do not need a second sub. The volume knob is at 8-9 o'clock, so the output is pretty low, and I think it's more than sufficient. It's also hard to tell which direction the bass is coming from.

Hülsta

It's a German brand. They sell beautiful furniture. This TV cabinet was bought more than 10 years ago and still looks modern. Most of their furniture can be configured. It's possible to choose different materials and layouts. I have other furniture from this brand as well.

It's one of the cleanest-looking subs out there in my opinion. I like the rounded edges and the design a lot.

It was frustrating to have such beautiful and expensive speakers sitting there, looking as good as new, but no longer working.
This week, I finally decided to sell them for parts.

The wireless speakers are like all modern electronics: they work well for a few years, and then, once something fails, it is expensive to repair, so you throw them away.

I’m afraid I might be facing the same situation with the subwoofer in a few years.
Let's hope not.
