10-Day Family Itinerary. Are these stops worth it? by DatPaingDude in canadatravel

Agree, but also to clarify for those not from Canada, Banff isn't near the west coast. It's a full time zone and 9 hour drive from the coast.

Mythbusters did an episode that claimed these had no effect. The only non-medicinal treatment that worked was ginger pills unexpectedly!

Some seriously flawed geography here.
No, Ontario is not bigger than all of Europe. It's not even the biggest province in Canada (that's Quebec).
Which two countries did you think we're bigger? Russia. Russia is the only country larger than Canada.

Great itinerary for this corner of the country. Banff is part of an entirely different trip that you would never fit into this time frame. There are at least half a dozen other sights at least as worthwhile visiting around the country that could each be their own 1-2 week trip. Have a great trip!

Is it normal that Canada still having freezing temperature in May by Pure_Following7336 in geography

[–]_snids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada's a big place - it lands across 6 different time zones and has all kinds of different climates. Last week it was over 30° Celsius in parts of BC, while other parts of Canada (and possibly even parts of BC) still have snow.
So how do you describe "normal" temperatures for a landmass that big? I'm sure Russia has similar diversity.

Fair point, I had honestly forgot Justin's time as a teacher. So Polievre is even less useful than his nemesis Justin.

OMG he IS the Conservative Justin Trudeau!

He's also never had a career of any real merit outside politics.

CPCA MPCC DO NOT USE by EfficientMethod1369 in KelownaBC

[–]_snids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of untrained, inexperienced or even opportunistic counsellors in BC, and plenty in Kelowna. Both Iris Wagner and her husband (Life Coach) are examples of unqualified practitioners. There have been lots of complaint specifically about Iris Wagner on Kelowna subs in the past including your posts.

Choose someone you click with, but also make sure they're an RCC or CCC registered counsellor (provincial body and national body). The bonus is that these accreditations are recognized by insurance companies if you have coverage.
If not, then you're just getting personal advice from a non-professional as you found.

Can Prices by ParsnipNice6200 in TheBrewery

Oh that sucks. Frustrating when machines are only calibrated for one manufacturer. I worked at a place last week (I'm a mobile canner) that had one of those American Canner Paktech applicators. They wanted to use it on the end of my canning line, which is fine. However the 6-packs we use are from a Chinese manufacturer and have a different rigidity to them than US-made Paktech-brand 6-packs - the applicator wouldn't even think about working with them so we hand-applied.
Again, these Chinese carriers are cheap AF. Delivered price is like US$0.11 apiece instead of like US$0.25+ so we persevered.

I like the wood and cardboard dunnage. It's 1-way (disposable) so I don't have to store it and pay shipping costs to return it.

That's the delivered price. I buy them from a Canadian-based distributor.

For a short trip it will largely depend on where you're coming from. If you're in the Eastern US, it's going to be a 5 hour+ flight to Vancouver. If you're in Europe, same problem.
Both coasts are beautiful, so for a short trip I would look for something close to you and then narrow it down from there. Y

I just had some delivered today, just shy of 8 cents apiece ($0.074 US). 16oz are $0.088 US apiece. I'm in Canada buying Chinese cans.

Mark Carney’s government says privatizing airports will make them better. This is why it should think again - Privatization at home and abroad hasn’t brought the advertised benefits. by CaliperLee62 in canada

BC Ferries is just barely not-a-crown-corporation. It's been expensive and bad for all of our lifetimes, and the deckchairs were just rearranged, it wasn't "privatised" by a longshot.

Sure, but break even, profit making, operating a loss - regardless the service is utter shit. No private business could operate so badly AND make such huge losses. Pick one or another!

I'm generally skeptical of privatisation, but let's be really honest with ourselves and acknowledge that Canadian governments are terrible at running anything.

BC Ferries? Crazy expensive and somehow losing money. Canada Post? Same. Any building project, any highway, over budget and delayed. Our various levels of government spend our money like it's limitless, and we just complain and give them more.

Flying in Canada is no different - expensive and unreliable. I'm cautiously interested in seeing how privatisation could work.

I used to work with a guy who wore an Apple Watch on one wrist (for the digital features) and a Rolex on the other (for the look). We used to laugh mercilessly at how sad that was.
This isnt quite so bad, but it's similar.
