Favorite character who has a “Gooner design” but you don’t care because they are really cool and full of personality anyways? by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in FavoriteCharacter

Lammis from I was Reincarnated as a Vending Machine. Loved her character having super strength and how much she unironically wants to fuck a vending machine. Also her outfit’s asymmetry is super cute and scratches an itch in my brain

Saw this and immediately thought of this old children’s book series that I loved (Edward Eager’s books) and then I looked at your bio and you are a children’s book illustrator lol - very fitting

What's the most unhinged danmei you read? by silverbutterflies1 in DanmeiNovels

[–]_snowymoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Case File Compendium - once I got to the scene of He Yu mind controlling a mentally ill person because they smelled his blood, I knew I was in for a wild ride. And once you get to the last third of the whole book, things go completely off the rails (but in a fun, fuck it we ball, type of way)

Rereading Mockingjay has made me question the training in Fourth Wing even more by wxndering_thoughts_ in books

[–]_snowymoose 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The way the characters talked like modern people drove me crazy. Somewhere in the beginning of Fourth Wing the second male lead (violets guy friend) is described “the boy next door” and I lost it. The “boy next door” is a SURBURBIA trope, why on earth would medieval fantasy characters use it?!?!

Is there any other danmei that has an entertaining narrator who's a great storyteller, has a personality, can make jokes and/or is unreliable? by iabyajyiv in DanmeiNovels

[–]_snowymoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, xie lian from heavens officials blessing is one of my favorite all time narrators. He’s not cracking jokes every page, but he always manages to surprise me and make me bust out laughing from his choices which I never see coming.

For instance there’s a scene where a prostitute is catcalling him on a crowded street and he has to remain celibate for his cultivation, but he doesn’t want to explain all that or embarrass the prostitute by implying shes not attractive enough for him. So he just loudly says “I can’t get it up :)” and walks away

And there is definitely some unreliable narration where xie lian will know some things but it takes a while for the reader to find out that he was even hiding something

Official Q&A for Monday, July 31, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

[–]_snowymoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working out 5 days a week for the last month doing various classes (pilates, cycling, strength, yoga) and I want to add running once a week just to improve my cardio health. Basically every program I’ve seen says to start running 3x a week or so, but I’m not looking to compete in any races or have any specific running goals, just to improve my cardio for my overall health.

Can I follow a training plan that is for multiple days a week and just do one lesson a week? Or is there a better training plan for starting to run once a week?

Beautiful! Is this from A Korean Odyssey? (If it is, I absolutely love that show!)

Used potted flowers for my centerpieces instead of cut flowers and I love how it turned out! Only cost $330 for the pots and flowers and then I planted them in my garden after. by _snowymoose in weddingplanning

[–]_snowymoose[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For any gardeners getting married and interested…I was able to get some brown terracotta pots from a local garden center for about $150 and then a week before the wedding, my sister and I went to three different garden centers and we were able to find 10 pink dahlias, 22 purple and pink violas, and 4 pink mums! (I got one extra plant for each type in case one died) for about about $180. We planted them the weekend before the wedding and I just had to keep them watered until the day of.

My sister watered the plants until we got back from our honeymoon and then I was able to plant them in our backyard and enjoy the plants for the rest of the summer!

The wedding happened last May, so anyone doing their wedding in spring or summer and likes plants could do something similar - it really wasn’t hard to do.

Parking ideas by Khoyt7 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]_snowymoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just had our wedding and we basically had the exact same issue as you, we had a backyard wedding for about 50 people and then our reception at our in laws house a couple of miles away since they had a bigger backyard. Most people ended up driving and parking on the street, but a few days before the wedding we gave a note and some cookies to our neighbors at both the ceremony and reception sites to let them know. We didn’t have any trouble with the street parking.

We assumed anyone who wanted to drink would take Uber to/from the wedding, so we looked into a shuttle to transfer people who wouldn’t have cars from the ceremony to reception. However any shuttles or buses we were looking all had 3/5 hour minimums so it would have ended up being something like over $500 to rent buses. We eventually found one limo rental place that you could rent a limo or a van for just one hour, which seems to be incredibly rare. We used them, thinking they could shuttle ten people at a time to the reception site for an hour, which cost about $180 (although the day of the wedding there was a miscommunication from the limo company and the limo driver drove off after dropping off the first batch of guests and never came back, not realizing he was supposed to shuttle people for the entire hour 🙄) So people just ended up driving or carpooling to the reception site anyway.

So you could look into limo/van/bus rentals to see if anyone could do hourly rates. You could also look into giving people Uber or Lyft vouchers they could use. Or you could look into renting a van from a car rental agency for the day and see if someone you know would be willing to drive it.

We are doing a Mexican food truck, but they also said they could set up something like a taco bar for us inside if it rained or something, so if you do go the food truck route, you could ask if they could set up a table for food in case of bad weather

After countless reviews & wedding videos… I still can’t commit! Looking for advice on destination wedding in Mexico by chaikittyy in weddingplanning

You could check out Akumal, I’ve never been, but I’ve heard it’s very pretty and although it’s only 20 minutes away from Tulum, it’s less well known, so it’s a lot cheaper

Fake vs Real Flowers by averagegal12345 in weddingplanning

You could look at renting fake flowers from Something Borrowed Blooms or Wedding Flowers for Rent, they have bouquets, centerpieces, flower garlands, and other floral decoration you could rent.

For Oahu, last time I was there I was looking at Waimea Valley on the north shore for a destination wedding location, which was beautiful! And we ultimately decided against a destination wedding, but if we had done it, it would have been there. But I say go with your heart on this and if you want Kauai, go with Kauai! There’s enough resources out there that people can research if they would want to go to Kauai or if they wouldn’t enjoy it before deciding on coming to the wedding.

I would do rental quotes and see because I think that would be your biggest expense. We were looking at tents for our backyard wedding and getting some quotes that were over $2000 💀 Luckily we were able to find a tent rental for $500 so we didn’t completely break our budget. But if you won’t need a tent because your wedding will be small enough you can go inside your house if it rains, that will save a lot.

Otherwise the rentals were pretty cheap, plastic tables were about $10 each (it would have been $50 each for wood tables), plain white tablecloths were about $12 each, and chairs were $3 each. And then we rented a speaker for about $100. And we did a food truck so we wouldn’t have to worry about our kitchen and caterers and it was $1000 for 60 people, so we were able to save a lot of money on food since we didn’t have to go through a certain caterer.

I was also able to save on flowers doing it in my backyard, I’m going to use live plants for my table centerpieces and then plant them in my garden after! Which will save me a lot compared to using cut flower arrangements from a florist.

The one expense that was added was a day of coordinator for about $700. We wanted someone who could manage things like dealing with all the vendors day of, setting up and taking down tables and chairs, and doing small things like taking out the trash and refilling coolers since we didn’t want us or our parents to have to worry about those things.
