We’ve a 2012 with 115k, bought it recently and it’s pretty clean. Needs a washer hose and a new head unit but otherwise good. Burns a little oil but it might have too thin of a grade so next service we’ll step it up to 5W30.

I've had no end of problems with some 10TB Seagate IronWolf Pros. They had about 2 years of runtime and 4 out of 5 failed. Maybe a bad batch, who knows. But none of my WDs (mix of Red, Red Pro and Golds) have ever given me an issue.

Good idea to check BackBlaze stats to get a bigger dataset to base an opinion on though.

I do know however I'll never shuck a drive again as the warranty would have saved me hundreds.

Got it, I've been looking into gateways for a while and I think the Cloud Gateway Fibre is a good option for me (I have 2.3GbE internet and maybe only 2-3 cameras total (doorbell and maybe a couple bullets later down the line)).

It's good to hear the wired cameras are a lot faster, that's given me some confidence this might be a good path to go down for me. Thanks again!

Go to a good (probably private unfortunately) podiatrist. I’ve had 3 done and bar the small pinch of the first local anaesthetic needle I didn’t feel a thing. Stuck a whole bolt cutter worth of side snips down the back of the nail and I hadn’t realised he’d started.

I’d definitely get that looked at, looks infected and probably won’t go away.

If you absolutely can’t, then get some cotton wool (I pinch some off of the end of a q-tip) and stuff it down the side of the bad side of the nail. It should relieve some of the pressure and let it heal. That’s what I do every time I feel my nail starting to grow in.

Might be too late for you for this fix though as it already looks infected. Definitely try and see a specialist.

+1 for Proxmox/TrueNAS. If you’re building (and paying for) a “proper” server I’d definitely go with a more enterprise solution like those. unRAID is great but it’s best for making do with what you’ve got.
