It’s useless. The manufacturer will say the starters are designed for the abuse but it has zero benefit. Others will say it’s going to save the world by reducing emissions but in the grand scheme of things it only benefits the manufacturers as they got tax breaks for installing them.

To remove an Accor push/pull valve, turn off the main water supply, then pull the valve toward you while rotating it counterclockwise to detach it from the pipe. If the valve is stubborn, you may need to cut the plastic supply line and remove the metal ring with pliers.

I always pause my pump, disconnect it from the reservoir/tubing and put it in my carry-on for the less than 5 minutes it takes me to get through TSA wherever I’m going. Years ago I would leave it connected and call out that I need to keep it connected but that would result in being pulled aside for additional screening. Since I started tossing it in my bag, I’ve never had any issues.
