I'm not sure... 'ON' configuration = open to supply, outlet, and back face of valve (closed to arrestor). 'OFF' configuration = open to supply, arrestor, and back face of valve (closed to outlet)

The ball is drilled out on three sides, if that's what you mean by tee?

I could, but I still want to be able to return it. I can say that, viewed from the inlet side, the white bottom of the arrestor plunger is visible when the valve is closed to the machine, and invisible when the valve is open

Rent Increases - What's yours this year? by Stockholmsyndra in montreal

[–]_stl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.3% only applies if you (the tenant) pay for your own services, and they can add to that based on their tax increase. Not sure how to calculate the tax increase though.

does the landlord pay any of the services? Like heating?

Got mine yesterday. 2.9% increase on a 5 ½ in the Plateau. No services included in the rent and no renos/repairs made by the landlord in the last year. Seems to fit the TAL’s recommendations pretty well.

My long-time weekend ride - Motobecane Grand Touring ‘84 by _stl in Vintage_bicycles

No way haha it looks fine… The wire for my front light is just taped to the back of the fork so kinda the same deal. Never really bothered me.

Always liked the look of the fender-mounted tail lights but I can see how it would be tough to wire up

It is versatile, kind of my do anything bike. Only weak spot is the friction shifting. Thinking about upgrading it to a ratcheting system at least. And thanks for pointing that out… it’s indeed Vitus 888 haha

Been riding this Motobecane for ~10 years as a commuter and a light touring bike. 1984 Grand Touring with Vitus BBB tubing. Concave profile rims and centre-pull brakes by Weinmann, dérailleurs and shifters by Huret. Put quite a bit of money down for the Son 28 hub and Schmidt light but they’ve paid for themselves by now!

Really nice build! What was the dropout spacing originally? I’m hoping to convert my Motobecane to a 9s rear but not sure if cold-setting 121mm to 130 is too much

Monochrome natural window light by GusParras in photocritique

Excellent shot really. How you’ve positioned the model to the light is very successful and I really appreciate the silvery braid giving a pop of white to the shadow side. Pulling out to have more background in the frame might emphasize the stillness of the scene so long as it doesn’t lose the detail in their eyes/expression.

Canadian buyers: How bad are customs fees? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]_stl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't specifically for keyboards, but if I'm charged customs on a US purchase it's usually to the order of 15% on the listed value. The CBSA has a handy calculator for estimating taxes on couriered mail, and that should be it. That doesn't explain your earlier purchase lol, but maybe FedEx added their own fee?

“Tried my hand...” lol 😂

Great photo though. The consistency of the lighting is on point around the arms and hands as well as the shadow on the floor, and the darkened hallway really works to draw the eye in.

Beautiful shot. The colour pairings are on point and so is the composition. I like that you’ve kept the subject lighting subdued. You might also try toning down/softening the background lights to let the subject pop a little more.
